The ideal candidate will bring strong experience in packaging regulations, food-contact requirements, sustainability, compliance documentation, and cross-functional leadership.\nThis individual will serve as a subject matter expert and strategic business partner, helping assess regulatory risk, guide packaging development and commercialization, maintain compliance processes and documentation, and prepare the organization for emerging packaging regulations. The role is hybrid, with flexibility for offsite work while remaining available for onsite collaboration as needed.\nLocation: Lewis Center, Ohio\nTravel: Occasional travel to plants or meetings\nCompensation: $118,000-$140,000 annually\nBonus: Eligible for 5% annual incentive\nKey Responsibilities\nLead regulatory compliance assessments for packaging materials, components, suppliers, and packaging changes.\n\nInterpret and apply food-contact, chemical, sustainability, labeling, and packaging end-of-life requirements.\n\nPartner with Packaging R&D and cross-functional teams on innovation, commercialization, cost-savings, sustainability, and supplier-change initiatives.\n\nAssess regulatory risks and develop practical recommendations and mitigation strategies.\n\nMaintain packaging compliance documentation, including supplier declarations, specifications, test reports, and other regulatory evidence.\n\nMonitor emerging packaging regulations and translate changes into actionable business guidance and compliance plans.\n\nSupport EPR, recycled content, recyclability, packaging waste, and end-of-life labeling requirements.\n\nAnalyze packaging data and partner with IT and other stakeholders to improve accuracy and reporting.\n\nProvide regulatory guidance, training, and recommendations to technical and non-technical stakeholders.\n\nTypical Day to Day\nReview packaging materials, components, suppliers, and proposed changes for regulatory compliance.\n\nMonitor emerging regulations and evaluate potential business impact.\n\nMaintain and review supplier declarations, specifications, test reports, and other compliance documentation.\n\nCollaborate with Packaging R&D, Procurement, Sustainability, IT, suppliers, laboratories, and consultants.\n\nCommunicate regulatory risks, requirements, and recommendations across cross-functional teams.\n\nRequirements\nBachelor’s degree in Packaging Science, Food Science, Chemistry, Chemical Engineering, Materials Science, Regulatory Science, or a related scientific or technical field.\n\n8+ years of relevant experience in packaging regulatory affairs, food-contact materials, packaging development, quality, compliance, or a related field within food, beverage, consumer packaged goods, or another regulated industry.\n\nKnowledge of packaging materials, food-contact requirements, and packaging sustainability/environmental regulations.\n\nExperience interpreting regulatory requirements and reviewing technical and supplier compliance documentation.\n\nExperience analyzing large data sets, validating data accuracy, and identifying and resolving discrepancies.\n\nStrong analytical, problem-solving, communication, and cross-functional collaboration skills.\n\nDemonstrated ability to influence and lead across functions without direct authority.\n\nAdvanced degree in a relevant scientific, technical, or regulatory field preferred.\n\nExperience supporting global or multi-market packaging portfolios preferred.\n\nKnowledge of U.S., Canadian, European, and/or other international food-contact regulatory frameworks preferred.\n\nExperience with packaging compliance, product lifecycle management, or regulatory information systems preferred.\n\nDisclaimer\nThis opportunity is being recruited by Adept Group on behalf of a confidential client.
