This role will be responsible for system architecture, platform modernization, and operational sustainment of complex environments built on Liferay, Oracle/PostgreSQL, and Linux distributions. The successful candidate will play a key role in system migrations, performance optimization, and ensuring high availability in secure and mission-critical environments.\nThis is a proactive recruitment initiative, with potential start dates in the coming weeks or months, contingent on contract award.\nKey Responsibilities\nArchitecture & System Design Develop and maintain end-to-end system architecture documentation for CV/UCV/MDTS environments \nDefine architecture across components including databases, application frameworks, middleware, and infrastructure \nProduce and maintain technical diagrams, system documentation, and Concept of Support artifacts \n\nSystem Administration & Operations Install, configure, optimize, and administer Linux-based systems (RHEL, Alma Linux, Ubuntu, AIX, UNIX) \nMaintain system operations through daily verification, monitoring, and scheduled maintenance \nTroubleshoot and resolve complex system and performance issues \n\nMigration & Modernization Plan and execute system migrations, including: \nCV systems to updated Liferay, RHEL/Alma Linux, and PostgreSQL in classified environments \nUCV systems to updated platforms in Azure or AWS cloud environments \nEnsure minimal disruption and secure transition during upgrades and migrations \n\nAutomation & Scripting Develop and maintain Bash, PowerShell, and Python scripts to automate administrative and operational tasks \nImprove operational efficiency through scripting and automation \n\nDatabase & Middleware Management Support and optimize Oracle and PostgreSQL databases \nAdminister and support Liferay (Portal/DXP), Apache HTTPD, and Tomcat environments \n\nPerformance, Backup & Recovery Analyze system performance and implement corrective and optimization measures \nDesign and implement backup strategies and disaster recovery procedures (DRP) \nEnsure system resilience and continuity in high-availability environments \n\nGovernance & Knowledge Transfer Support ITSM processes, including Request for Change (RFC) documentation and approvals \nProvide knowledge transfer and technical guidance to internal teams \nDevelop and maintain Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) \n\nTechnical Environment\nOperating Systems: UNIX, AIX, RHEL, Alma Linux, Ubuntu \nCloud & Identity: Azure, AWS, Entra ID \nScripting: Bash, PowerShell, Python \nDatabases: Oracle, PostgreSQL \nMiddleware / Applications: Liferay (Portal, DXP), Apache HTTPD, Tomcat \nOther: Node.js (supporting components), ITSM tools and processes\n 5+ years experience as a Technical Architect \nCollege diploma or University degree in Computer Science, Engineering, IT, or related field \nMinimum 5 years of Linux administration experience within the last 10 years \nExperience designing and supporting complex, multi-environment systems \nStrong experience with: Linux server installation, configuration, and maintenance \nSystem troubleshooting and performance optimization \nTechnical documentation and architecture design \n\n5-10+ years experience administering enterprise Linux environments (RHEL, Alma, Ubuntu) \nExperience with cloud platforms (Azure and/or AWS) \nExperience with Bash / PowerShell scripting for automation \nExperience supporting Oracle and PostgreSQL databases \nFamiliarity with ITSM change management (RFC processes) \nExperience working in secure, government, or defence environments \n Must currently hold or be eligible to obtain and maintain a Secret (Level II) Canadian Federal Government Security clearance.\nIf you require accommodations during any stage of the application or interview process, please let us know.
