Reviews, verifies, and improves own designs against specifications.\n\nDatabase design\nDevelops and maintains specialist knowledge of database and data warehouse concepts, design principles, architectures, software, and facilities.\n\nAssesses proposed changes to object/data structures, to evaluate alternative options.\n\nImplements physical database designs to support transactional data requirements for performance and availability.\n\nImplements data warehouse designs that support demands for business intelligence and data analytics.\n\nTesting\nReviews requirements and specifications and defines test conditions.\n\nDesigns test cases and test scripts under own direction, mapping back to pre-determined criteria, recording and reporting outcomes.\n\nAnalyses and reports test activities and results.\n\nIdentifies and reports issues and risks associated with own work.\n\nKnowledge, Skills & Abilities\nStrong knowledge of database concepts & technologies including enterprise and open-source platforms (RDBMS, NoSQL, specialized databases)\n\nExperience working with database infrastructure in public and/or private cloud environments (AWS, Azure)\n\nGood understanding of core cloud capabilities including Networking, Monitoring, HADR, Replication, Backup & Recovery and Database Migrations\n\nHands-on experience in one or more platforms such as Oracle, SQL Server, AWS RDS, Aurora, DynamoDB or DocumentDB\n\nBasic understanding of DB security principles like Encryption, Access Mgmt and Auditing\n\nExperience in performance tuning including SQL optimization, resource utilization and system performance improvements\n\nWorking knowledge of Linux and/or Windows Server in database environments\n\nInterest in automation, emerging technologies and adopt AI-driven solution adoption\n\nCollaborative team player with good communication and stakeholder interaction skills\n\nRelevant certifications in database and/or cloud technologies are a plus\n\nSystems integration and build\nDefines the software modules needed for an integration build and produces a build definition for each generation of the software.\n\nAccepts completed software modules, ensuring that they meet defined criteria.\n\nProduces software builds from software source code for loading onto target hardware.\n\nConfigures the hardware and software environment as required by the system being integrated.\n\nProduces integration test specifications, conducts tests and records and reports on outcomes.\n\nDiagnoses faults and records and reports on the results of tests. Produces system integration reports.\n\nPorting/software configuration\nConfigures software and equipment and tests platform-specific versions of one or more software products.\n\nReports the outcome of testing and identifies potential improvements to the process and to the software products according to agreed designs and standards.\n\nService level management\nPerforms defined tasks to monitor service delivery against service level agreements and maintains records of relevant information.\n\nAnalyses service records against agreed service levels regularly to identify actions required to maintain or improve levels of service, and initiates or reports these actions.\n\nRelease and deployment\nAssesses and analyses release components.\n\nProvides input to scheduling.\n\nCarries out the builds and tests in coordination with testers and component specialists maintaining and administering the tools and methods -
