This is a mature app. \nYou will ensure continued functionality as the back end API evolves and as dependencies require upgrades, and you may implement some new features. Some iOS experience is helpful, but thought leadership will center on the new Android mobile application. \nThe current technical lead of the existing iOS application is moving to a new role. While they will be available long term for knowledge transfer and consultation, you will own the existing and new applications. \nDiscover, embrace, and execute cutting edge processes to accelerate development with AI, not simply reducing time coding while following conventional software process, but following new paradigms for software development process in the age of AI.\nDrive impact as part of an empowered product team composed of Product Management, UX, and Engineering implementing the Product Operating Model. You will contribute to every stage of product development: discovering, designing, testing, delivering, and maintaining innovative software solutions to advance scouting through drone flights and field walks for customers. \nCollaborate with Product Management and UX to develop a deep understanding of customer problems including participation in customer calls and in-person customer visits, covering both internal customers and external customers. \nCombine your technical expertise and creativity to propose solutions, develop prototypes, test prototypes with customers, and evaluate feasibility. \nFollowing validation of customer value, technical feasibility, usability, and business viability (the discovery phase), design, code, test, deliver, and maintain software as part of a team passionate about software quality (the delivery phase). \nDefine and drive mobile software architecture and design patterns. \nServe as a technical advisor in the solution of complex problems spanning the cloud backend team, other client app teams, and the embedded/hardware team. \nIdentify and resolve performance, reliability, and scalability issues. \nContribute to long-term mobile platform strategy and technical roadmap. \nIf you have experience in C# .NET, collaborate on high level design and provide peer code review for the tech lead and sole developer of Windows application. \nTest your software by performing drone flights.\nTravel to participate in 2-5 customer visits per year for discovery and 1-2 internal conferences/trainings per year. Travel includes day trips and overnight trips lasting 1-2 nights.\n\nWhat Skills You Need:6+ years of professional software development experience \n2+ years of hands-on Android development experience \nPassion for exploring, embracing, and executing software development with entirely new processes emerging in the age of AI. A willingness to confront the discomfort of leaving old processes behind, while simultaneously striving for quality architectures and maintainable source code.\nDemonstrated critical thinking, problem solving, debugging, and analytical skills. \nPassion for working with customers to understand and solve their problems. \nAbility and enthusiasm to work independently as the technical lead and sole developer on a mobile software application while collaborating with engineers responsible for the back end and adjacent client applications (web and PC). \nSkilled in written and verbal interpersonal communications, open-minded listening, balanced assertiveness, conflict resolution, and tact.\n\nWhat Makes You Standout:Any experience in any of the following areas:Experience leading a technical project, either as the sole developer or team technical lead \niOS\nCI/CD pipelines such as GitHub Actions \nGeospatial data processing and visualization: presenting geographically-located data on a map, basemaps, vector data, raster data, GeoJSON, ESRI Shapefiles, Cloud Optimized GeoTIFFS (COGs), rasterio, or geopandas.\nDrone flight applications \nIntegrating with hardware, sensors, or IoT devices \nPrecision agriculture and digital agronomy\nC# .NET and/or Windows Presentation Foundation (WPF) \nEmbracing the Product Operating Model with an emphasis on spending time talking to customers to understand their problems during the discovery process.\n\nEducation:Bachelors degree in Software Engineering, Computer Science, Computer Engineering, IT, a related technical field, or equivalent experience in a related career field\n\nPay Transparency: The typical base pay for this role across the U.S. is: $66.67 - $69.00/hr. Non-exempt positions are eligible for overtime at a rate of 1.5 times the base hourly rate for all hours worked in excess of 40 in a work week, or as required by state or local law. Final offer amounts, within the base pay set forth above, are determined by factors including your relevant skills, education and experience. Full-time employees are eligible to select from different benefits packages.
