This is a hands-on technical role supporting material development and scale-up activities through polymer compounding, extrusion processing and material preparation. Working within a small-batch R&D facility, you’ll support the delivery of development trials, process optimisation projects and new material innovations.\nWhat you’ll be doing:\nSetting up, operating and shutting down twin-screw compounding extrusion lines for development trials.\nPreparing, weighing and blending raw materials, additives and pigments to formulation specifications.\nMonitoring and adjusting processing parameters including temperature, screw speed, feed rates and vacuum.\nOperating pelletising, drying, mixing and pulverising equipment to produce development samples.\nCarrying out equipment changeovers, cleaning activities and contamination control procedures.\nSupporting routine maintenance, equipment inspections and first-line troubleshooting.\nReceiving, storing and handling materials whilst maintaining traceability records.\nMaintaining accurate process documentation and production records.\nFollowing SOPs, quality standards and health & safety procedures at all times.\nCollaborating with scientists and engineers to support material development programmes.\nWhat you’ll need:\nIndustry experience operating twin-screw compounding extrusion equipment.\nUnderstanding of extrusion and compounding process variables and their impact on product quality.\nExperience preparing formulations and weighing materials to specification.\nStrong mechanical aptitude and confidence working with technical equipment.\nGood organisational skills and attention to detail.\nAbility to maintain accurate records and follow technical procedures.\nStrong awareness of health, safety and housekeeping standards.\nAbility to work independently within a fast-paced R&D environment.\nNice to have:\nExperience within masterbatch, additive or speciality polymer compounding.\nExperience working with pigments, fillers or additive dispersion processes.\nExperience operating pulverising, milling or drying equipment.\nFamiliarity with ISO 9001 or similar quality management systems.\nRelevant qualification in Polymer Processing, Engineering or Applied Science.\nForklift, pallet truck or other material handling equipment certification.\nWhat’s in it for you?\nFull-time permanent position.\nOpportunity to contribute to innovative materials technology research and development programmes.\nExposure to cutting-edge polymer and additive development projects.\nCollaborative and fast-paced technical environment.\nCompetitive salary and benefits package.\nWhat’s Next?\nIf you’re an experienced Extrusion Operating Technician looking for an exciting hands-on role within an innovative materials technology company, we’d love to hear from you.
