It needs to be fast, reliable and simple to use, supported by robust architecture and engineering practices that can scale.\nYou’ll be involved from discovery through to delivery, helping shape product direction, make architecture decisions and solve complex technical problems. Working in a cross functional squad alongside Product Managers, Designers, Backend Engineers and QA Engineers, you’ll use customer feedback and data to guide decisions, release frequently and improve the experience over time.\nYou’ll also help shape how we adopt AI assisted and agentic engineering practices, coaching others to use modern tools while maintaining high standards for quality, maintainability and customer outcomes.\nWhat you’ll be responsible for\nLead the architecture and delivery of complex Android features across data modelling, networking, caching, offline behaviour and sync.\nBuild high quality mobile experiences using Kotlin, Jetpack Compose and modern Android architecture.\nWork closely with Product, Design, Backend Engineering and QA from discovery through to delivery, shaping the Android roadmap and the APIs behind it.\nMake technical decisions that balance performance, scalability, maintainability and customer experience.\nMentor engineers, provide thorough code reviews and improve tooling, release cadence and developer experience.\nUse AI assisted and agentic engineering tools to improve delivery, helping the team adopt them confidently without lowering standards.\nWhat you’ll bring\nProven experience as an Android engineer, with a significant portion at senior level in fast paced, consumer focused companies.\nA track record of delivering and scaling Android applications with a large user base.\nStrong proficiency in Android, Kotlin and Jetpack Compose, with a deep understanding of Android frameworks and APIs.\nExperience architecting and implementing complex mobile applications.\nStrong experience with CI/CD and frequent releases.\nExperience using AI assisted development tools such as Claude Code, Cursor or similar.\nExcellent problem solving and debugging skills, with a commitment to clean, efficient and maintainable code.\nStrong communication skills, with the ability to discuss interaction design, API schemas and architecture decisions across disciplines.\nA customer focused approach, connecting technical decisions to real customer problems and better experiences.\nLeadership instincts, with the confidence to challenge assumptions, identify opportunities, mentor others and take projects through to completion.\nOur technology\nLanguage and UI: Kotlin, Jetpack Compose.\nArchitecture: Modern modular Android architecture, coroutines and Flow.\nCI/CD and release: CircleCI, Firebase App Distribution and Google Play.\nQuality: Automated unit and UI testing, with BrowserStack for device coverage.\nObservability: New Relic and Firebase Crashlytics.\nAI assisted engineering: Claude Code and other emerging agentic tooling.\nWhy Veygo?\nAt Veygo, we’re here to unlock independence.\nFor young drivers, getting on the road is a massive life moment freedom, confidence, responsibility, and finally not needing a lift everywhere.
