This is a high-ownership role for someone who wants their work to define how the team builds.\nWhat You'll Do\nBuild robust AI systems | Design and ship testable, production-grade agentic AI systems that hold up at enterprise scale\n\nLead by example | Serve as the lead IC and technical standard-bearer for a growing backend AI team - through code, design reviews, and mentorship\n\nPush the state of the art | Research emerging techniques and translate them into practical, reliable engineering practices\n\nDesign lean systems | Extend and evolve our services while keeping complexity low and the codebase maintainable\n\nWho You Are\nFormal background in CS or a related technical discipline (MS a plus)\n\n5+ years of professional backend engineering experience\n\nDeep expertise in Python and its ecosystem (FastAPI, Flask, or similar)\n\nExperience with agent orchestration frameworks (LangGraph, LlamaIndex, or similar)\n\nA craftsperson who writes elegant, well-tested code - with or without AI assistance\n\nA strong systems designer with hands-on AWS experience\n\nComfortable moving fast in ambiguous situations that require clear communication\n\nExcited to work in person at our NYC office 3+ days per week\n\nThe base salary range for this position is $190,000 to $210,000. Base pay offered may vary depending on job-related knowledge, skills, and experience. Adonis determines compensation based on each candidate’s experience and qualifications relative to peers, and most new hires fall near the middle of the range.
