functions\nPerforming research on optical transmission systems, subsystems and distributed fiber sensing with focus on the physical layer\nSetting up experimental assemblies in the laboratory and conducting experiments\nContribution to the organization of the laboratory\nCooperation with national and international project partners\nInternal subproject lead for research and advanced development projects\nCreative application of knowledge and experience in the several of the following fields:Technologies for increasing capacity of optical communication systems (multi-band transmission, space-division multiplexing)\nAmplifier setups for new applications\nTechniques for monitoring signal quality in optical networks\nJoint data communication and distributed fiber sensing\n\nKnowledge, skills and experience required\nDiploma or Master degree in Electrical Engineering, Physics or related area\nGood programming skills (e.g. Python, C/C++)\nGood knowledge in optical transmission technologies and optical fiber effects\nLaboratory experience in optical sub-system and system characterization\nIdeally experience in one or more of the following topics:Coherent optical transmission and optical modulation\nOptical amplification and switching\nMonitoring of signal quality in an optical network\n\nGood presentation and communication skills\nInnovative, highly motivated
