As our national operations expand, we seek motivated individuals to join the team!\nAbout this Role\nPosition Overview:\nThe Senior Safety Manager will oversee the planning and implementation of safety policies and procedures in compliance with local, state, and federal rules and regulations, including Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA) and Department of Transportation (DOT). The Senior Safety Manager is responsible for reinforcing a strong safety culture within the organization and ensuring the safety and health of all employees.\nWhat You'll Do\nKey Responsibilities:\nSafety Program Management:\nBuild and implement the project safety plan, JHAs, and energized-work and tie-in procedures before mobilization\nPlan emergency response and rescue for remote terrain, including local EMS coordination\n\nTraining and Development:\nLead and mentor field safety advisors across crews and contractors\nCoach supervisors and crews and track leading and lagging indicators\nDevelop and deliver safety training programs to employees\nConduct training sessions, including tailboards and briefings, to ensure safety protocols are understood and followed\n\nIncident Management:\nLead incident investigations, learning reviews, and corrective actions\nEnsure timely and accurate incident reporting and documentation\nFollow up on corrective actions to ensure they are completed and effective\n\nCompliance and Inspections:\nCoordinate with the owner on AEP safety requirements, orientations, audits, and reporting\nConduct regular inspections of workplace environments, equipment, and practices to ensure compliance with safety standards\nEnsure that all equipment and machinery meet safety requirements\nPrepare written reports of findings and recommendations for corrective measures\n\nCommunication and Relationship Management:\nCommunicate safety policies and procedures to all employees and management\nMaintain working relationships with employees, supervisory personnel, state and local officials, consultants, and subcontractors\nProvide support on sensitive or critical projects and ensure safety standards are maintained\n\nData Analysis and Reporting:\nAnalyze and trend safety statistics and metrics to proactively monitor safety performance\nPrepare and present safety performance reports to management\nDevelop and track safety performance indicators and goals\n\n Support and Development of HSE Programs:\nSupport Corporate Health, Safety, and Environmental (HSE) Initiatives\nAssist in the development and enhancement of HSE programs\nProvide support in post-incident investigations and develop strategies to prevent future incidents\n\nRegulatory Understanding:\nStay updated on OSHA, DOT, and other relevant safety regulations\nEnsure compliance with all local, state, and federal safety regulations\nWhat You'll Bring\nQualifications:\n5+ years of safety leadership (transmission line and substation construction experience preferred)\nExperience on large-scale, multi-contractor projects\nWorking knowledge of AEP safety standards or comparable large utility owner requirements preferred\nStrong knowledge of OSHA 1926 Subpart V, NESC, and energized work practices\nProven ability to influence crews, supervisors, and clients\nTransmission (345kV+) experience preferred\nEnergized substation experience preferred\nMountainous or remote terrain experience preferred\nFirst Aid/CPR and rescue training preferred\nOSHA 30 certification required (OSHA 510 certification is preferred)\nBachelor's degree in safety management is preferred\nPreferred Licenses/Certifications: CSP, CHST, CIH, CUSP, OSHT, or equivalent\nUnderstanding of Federal and State safety regulations and training requirements\nProficiency in Microsoft Office software and experience with web-based tracking software\n\nPhysical Demands:\nSit for extended periods of time\nUse hands and fingers to operate a computer, keyboard, mouse, and other office equipment\nCommunicate effectively in person, by phone, and electronically\nStand and walk occasionally throughout the workday\nReach with hands and arms\nOccasionally lift and/or move items up to 20 pounds (e.g., files, office supplies, equipment)\nRead printed documents and view information on computer screens\nDrug Free Workplace: New Employees must submit and successfully pass post offer drug screening\n\nReasonable accommodations may be made to enable qualified individuals with disabilities to perform the essential functions of the position\nWhat You'll Get\nWe offer an extremely competitive and comprehensive benefits package including:\nPTO that starts accruing DAY 1\n401K Immediate Vesting;
