Advanced Engineering in Cork is focused on developing next-generation concepts for Electrosurgery generators, including pulsed electric field technologies, ablation treatments, and other surgical energy applications. This role also encompasses exploring high-efficiency power supply architectures for advanced applications in industry.\nEssential Responsibilities:\nResearch & Innovation:\nContribute to the conception and development of advanced electrosurgical generators and related technologies\nExplore and develop emerging technologies in power electronics, surgical energy delivery, and high-efficiency power conversion\nTranslate research insights into practical prototypes and future product concepts\nProduct Design:\nDesign and analysis of systems products and subsystems/circuits to specification, cost, budget, schedule and quality goals \nDrive critical thinking and problem-solving across complex engineering challenges\nAssumes responsibility for the success of the technology readiness and the delivery of proven proof-of-concept platforms\nEngage proactively with customers to understand the product/system in the customers’ applications and recommend/implement corrective actions or enhancements as needed\nEvaluate and implement cutting-edge technologies for surgical energy applications\nCollaborate with Product Development teams to review and transfer technology to enable the successful development and launch of new products\nCollaborate with departments, such as New Product Implementation, purchasing, quality, program management, finance, safety, production, etc.\nEnsure compliance with regulatory and safety standards for power solutions for medical devices\nProvide expert guidance on power electronics design, control strategies, and system integration\nTeam Leadership\nLead, mentor, and inspire a multidisciplinary team of engineers\nDrive career development through coaching, training, and performance management\nCultivate a culture of innovation, collaboration, and technical excellence\nWork Environment:\nLocation: Cork - on site\nWorks in a standard office and lab environment \nDomestic and International travel of up to 10%\nInterfaces with internal & external customers in all functional areas\nTechnical and Professional Skills:\nProven track record of developing power electronics prototypes and products\nExperience with influencing and negotiating in complex situations\nAdvanced knowledge of power conversion topologies, high-frequency switching, and control systems\nStrategic thinker with a passion for innovation and technology exploration\nAbility to solve complex problems independently\nStrong coaching and mentoring skills\nWell organized and disciplined\nStrong team player skills and mindset\nAbility to thrive in a fast-paced, R&D environment\nFamiliarity with electrosurgical technologies, pulsed electric fields, or ablation systems is highly desirable\nExperience/Education:\nEssential:\nMinimum bachelor’s degree in electronic engineering or similar field.
