At our core, we are Advanced Energy - powering the future, together.\nPOSITION SUMMARY:\nWe are seeking a highly motivated Senior Electronics Engineer to lead the design, development, and validation of advanced power conversion systems and related subsystems. This position plays a critical role in the full product lifecycle, from concept and architecture through qualification, production release, and sustaining engineering. The successful candidate will combine deep technical expertise in power electronics with strong problem-solving and leadership skills to deliver innovative, high-reliability solutions for mission-critical applications.\nWorking within a multidisciplinary engineering team, this individual will drive technical decisions, mentor engineers, and collaborate across hardware, firmware, mechanical, manufacturing, and quality organizations to achieve performance, cost, schedule, and quality objectives.\nRESPONSIBILITIES:\nDesign, develop, and validate advanced power electronic systems, including analog, digital, mixed-signal, control, RF, and high-power circuitry.\nOwn product and subsystem development from requirements definition through production release and ongoing support.\nDevelop schematics, support PCB layout activities, and guide prototype build and integration efforts.\nPerform detailed circuit analysis, simulation, system characterization, and root-cause investigations to ensure robust and reliable designs.\nDesign and execute laboratory experiments, analyze results, and validate compliance with functional, safety, regulatory, and customer requirements.\nTroubleshoot complex technical issues encountered during development, manufacturing, qualification, and customer operation.\nCollaborate with firmware, mechanical, manufacturing, quality, sourcing, and field teams to optimize performance, reliability, cost, and manufacturability.\nDevelop automated test solutions and engineering tools using Python, MATLAB, LabVIEW, or similar technologies.\nGenerate and maintain engineering documentation, including specifications, design reviews, test reports, and engineering change orders.\nProvide technical leadership, mentorship, and design reviews for engineers across the organization.\nPresent technical findings, recommendations, and program status to engineering leadership and key stakeholders.\nSupport continuous improvement initiatives focused on product quality, development efficiency, and engineering best practices.\nWORK ENVIRONMENT:\nLocation: Eden Prairie, MN\nEnvironment: Onsite, office environment\nUp to 10% domestic and international travel\nQUALIFICATIONS\nRequired\nStrong foundation in electrical engineering, with emphasis on power electronics, circuit design, control systems, and system integration.\nProficiency with laboratory instruments such as oscilloscopes, power analyzers, spectrum analyzers, network analyzers, and electronic loads.\nExperience with electronic design and simulation tools such as Cadence, Altium Designer, LTspice, PSpice, MATLAB/Simulink, or equivalent.\nDemonstrated ability to independently solve complex technical challenges and drive projects to completion.\nStrong analytical, troubleshooting, and root-cause analysis skills.\nEffective verbal and written communication skills with the ability to convey technical concepts to diverse audiences.\nProven ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment.\nExperience working cross-functionally within product development organizations.\nPreferred\nExperience withhigh-voltage power conversion and designing AC-DC, DC-DC, RF power, plasma power, or other high-performance power conversion systems.\nExperience with magnetics design.\nKnowledge of embedded systems, digital control, FPGA, or DSP-based control architectures.\nFamiliarity with regulatory and safety requirements for power electronics products.\nExperience with Design for Manufacturability (DFM), Design for Reliability (DFR), and Design for Testability (DFT).\nPrior experience leading technical projects and mentoring engineers.\nEXPERIENCE:\nBachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering or related field required.\nMinimum 5+ years of industry experience in electronic design, power electronics, or related engineering disciplines.\nDemonstrated history of technical ownership, successful product development, and delivery of complex engineering solutions.\nExperience leading subsystem or product-level development efforts is highly desirable.\nCOMPENSATION:\nAs required by multiple state pay transparency laws, Advanced Energy provides a reasonable range of compensation for each job posting. Actual compensation is influenced by an array of factors including, but not limited to, skill set, level of experience, and specific office location.
