In this highly visible role, you will work directly with customers to understand their challenges, translate requirements into impactful solutions, and help shape the future of our technology.\nCombining technical expertise with strategic thinking, you will solve complex engineering problems, validate cutting-edge concepts, and provide leadership and mentorship to engineers and engineering technicians. You will collaborate with customers, stakeholders, and senior leaders-both within Advanced Energy and externally-to deliver exceptional results and advance mission-critical programs.\nRESPONSIBILITIES:\nResponsible for the design and analysis of systems, products, and subsystems/circuits to specification, cost, budget, schedule, and quality goals.\nResponsible to diagnose issues of diverse scope with design, field performance, reliability and test yields of products and recommend/implement corrective actions to address\nAssume responsibility for the success of the product/system in the customers' applications and recommend/implement corrective actions as needed\nFollow key engineering procedures in the Product Development Process and ECO process\nWork with manufacturing locations and supply chain groups to implement cost reductions, manufacturability improvements, and quality improvements for existing products\nWORK ENVIRONMENT:\nLocation: Wilmington, MA\nEnvironment: Works in a noisy, fast-paced power development lab and standard office environment\nFlexibility working across time zones as part of a global team, as required\nUses electronic equipment and can work with high voltage\nDomestic and international travel of up to 10%\nInterfaces with internal and external customers\nOnsite technical support at customer locations\nQUALIFICATIONS:\nRequired\nComprehensive knowledge of kV high-voltage design practices and engineering processes\nExpert-level knowledge of power electronics design\nAC/DC and DC/DC switched-mode power supply design\nEMI/EMC design, analysis, and mitigation\nMagnetic component design and optimization\nPower component selection, including MOSFETs, GaN FETs, gate drivers, capacitors, and related devices\nFeedback control analysis and control loop design\nDiscrete analog and digital circuit design\nEmbedded systems design using microcontrollers and/or FPGA architectures\nPCB layout, stack-up design, and noise mitigation techniques\nProficiency with simulation tools such as PSIM, SIMPLIS, PLECS, or equivalent\nAbility to perform statistical and mathematical analysis, including Kalman filtering and Gaussian denoising techniques\nStrong verbal, written, and interpersonal communication skills\nAbility to work independently and solve complex technical problems\nPreferred\nExperience with MATLAB, Mathcad, or similar engineering tools\nWorking knowledge of microcontroller and FPGA firmware development\nUnderstanding of EtherCAT and industrial communication protocols\nExperience with thermal design and thermal management techniques\nExperience designing products for safety, regulatory compliance, and certification\nFamiliarity with IEC 61000, UL, and other applicable industry standards\nEXPERIENCE:\n12+ years of electrical engineering experience, including high-voltage (kV) power systems and power electronics design\nExperience with switch-mode power supplies (SMPS) and power electronics applications\nExperience independently solving complex technical challenges and leading technical initiatives\nExperience managing multiple projects and priorities simultaneously\nExperience providing technical leadership, mentoring, and guidance to engineers and engineering technicians\nExperience influencing, negotiating, and driving solutions in complex technical environments\nHands-on laboratory, testing, debugging, and troubleshooting experience\nExperience developing product specifications, verification plans, and test procedures\nExperience with reliability and environmental testing, including HALT, HASS, and ALT methodologies\nExperience with DFM (Design for Manufacturability), DFT (Design for Testability), and FMEA (Failure Modes and Effects Analysis)\nEDUCATION:\nB.S. in Electrical or Computer Engineering or related field.\nCOMPENSATION:\nAs required by multiple state pay transparency laws, Advanced Energy provides a reasonable range of compensation for each job posting. Actual compensation is influenced by an array of factors including, but not limited to, skill set, level of experience, and specific office location.
