The successful candidate will contribute to the development and evolution of software applications used for RF calibration, testing, characterization, and service of Advanced Energy products. The immediate focus of this role is participation in the development of an RF Calibration System application used to automate test workflows, interact with instruments and hardware devices, collect and analyze measurement data, and provide an intuitive operator experience. The application is developed in C#, .NET 8, and WPF using MVVM architecture. Depending on qualifications and experience, this position may be filled at the Software Engineer II or Senior Software Engineer level.\nRESPONSIBILITIES:\nWorks as part of a team, balancing time and scope to meet specification and scheduling demands.\nDesign, develop, test, and maintain software applications supporting RF calibration, testing, and service activities.\nDevelop software solutions that interface with instrumentation, hardware devices, and automated test systems.\nCollaborate with cross-functional engineering teams to define requirements and implement technical solutions.\nTroubleshoot and resolve software and hardware integration issues.\nParticipate in code reviews, testing, documentation, and continuous improvement initiatives.\nSupport both new product development and sustaining engineering efforts for existing products.\nWORK ENVIRONMENT:\nLocation: Fort Collins, CO\nEnvironment: Standard office environment\nQUALIFICATIONS:\nRequired\nStrong troubleshooting, analytical, and problem-solving abilities.\nExcellent written and verbal communication skills.\nAbility to work effectively with cross-functional and geographically distributed teams.\nPreferred\nExperience with RF, power electronics, instrumentation, automated test equipment (ATE), calibration systems, or measurement systems.\nEducational background in Electrical Engineering or strong understanding of electrical and electronic systems.\nExperience with Bitbucket, Jira, CI/CD pipelines, and modern software lifecycle management tools.\nExperience modernizing legacy software applications and improving software quality standards.\nExperience developing automated test frameworks and hardware-in-the-loop solutions.\nKnowledge of software quality standards, coding guidelines, and software compliance processes.\nExperience with database technologies and data management solutions.\nExperience with Python for engineering, automation, or test applications.\nExperience with web application or full-stack development using modern frameworks and cloud technologies.\nFamiliarity with AI-assisted software development tools and workflows, such as GitHub Copilot, Claude Code, or similar engineering productivity tools.\nUnderstanding of responsible AI-assisted development practices, including code review, validation, testing, and governance considerations.\nExperience working in semiconductor, industrial automation, instrumentation, or manufacturing environments.\nEXPERIENCE:\n5+ years of professional software development experience using C# and .NET.\nExperience developing desktop applications using WPF and MVVM architecture.\nExperience developing software that communicates with hardware devices, instruments, sensors, controllers, or embedded systems.\nExperience with one or more communication technologies such as TCP/IP, USB, Serial (RS-232/RS-485), Ethernet, GPIO, CAN, Modbus, SCPI, or similar interfaces.\nStrong object-oriented design and software architecture skills.\nExperience debugging complex interactions between software and physical hardware systems.\nKnowledge of software development best practices including source control, code reviews, automated testing, and continuous integration.\nExperience using Git-based source control systems and modern development workflows.\nEDUCATION:\nBachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, Computer Engineering, Electrical Engineering, or related discipline.\nCOMPENSATION:\nAs required by multiple state pay transparency laws, Advanced Energy provides a reasonable range of compensation for each job posting. Actual compensation is influenced by an array of factors including, but not limited to, skill set, level of experience, and specific office location.
