Think you’ve got what it takes? \nAbout the Role \nAt Advanced Space, we're enabling humanity's return to the Moon and building the technologies that will take us to Mars and beyond. We're looking for a Systems Engineer with 2-5 years of experience to support a growing portfolio of space missions and projects.\nIn this role, you'll contribute across the full systems engineering lifecycle, supporting mission formulation, requirements development, system architecture, integration, verification, validation, and mission operations. You'll work alongside multidisciplinary engineering teams to help turn mission concepts into reliable, flight-ready systems.\nYou'll have the opportunity to contribute to real space missions while working across spacecraft subsystems, including communications, Guidance, Navigation & Control (GNC), Attitude Determination and Control Systems (ADCS), propulsion, Fault Detection, Isolation & Recovery (FDIR), and Electrical Power Systems (EPS). You'll also support mission planning, technical trade studies, system integration and testing, and customer deliverables.\nWe're looking for someone who enjoys solving complex technical problems, thinks across the entire system rather than just one component, and wants to make a direct impact on missions that are flying - not just being imagined.\nThis position is open to U.S. Persons (U.S. citizens or lawful permanent residents) only. Visa sponsorship is not available. Candidates must be authorized to work in the U.S. without the need for current or future sponsorship.\nAbout Advanced Space \nAdvanced Space exists to enable the sustainable exploration, development, and settlement of space through innovative software, mission services, and technology solutions. As the owner and operator of NASA's CAPSTONE™ mission and the Prime Contractor for AFRL's Oracle mission, we're helping shape the future of cislunar exploration while supporting commercial, civil, and national security customers.\nOur team combines deep technical expertise with an entrepreneurial mindset. We move quickly, collaborate across disciplines, and empower every engineer to make meaningful contributions. We are customer obsessed and mission focused; when we see it, we solve it; we are one team, motivated by our vision; and we bring technical excellence and inexhaustible curiosity.\nIf you're passionate about solving challenging problems and seeing your work fly in space, you'll fit right in.\nWhat You'll Actually Do \nSupport mission and systems engineering development.\nSupport the planning, design, and development of system and mission requirements for space missions and projects. Contribute to mission formulation, system architecture development, and technical assessments throughout the project lifecycle.\nDevelop and manage system requirements.\nHelp develop, document, and manage system requirements while supporting verification and validation activities. Contribute to verification strategies and ensure technical requirements remain aligned with mission objectives and system performance.\nSupport system integration, verification, and testing.\nDevelop system integration and test plans and procedures, participate in test execution, and document results. Support system engineering milestone reviews, including SRR, PDR, CDR, TRR, and other program reviews.\nContribute to spacecraft design and trade studies.\nParticipate in subsystem design activities and technical trade studies involving communications, GNC, ADCS, propulsion, FDIR, EPS, and other spacecraft subsystems. Help evaluate design options and understand their impacts on overall mission performance.\nDefine and manage system interfaces.\nSupport interface definition and development of Interface Control Documents (ICDs) for spacecraft and ground systems. Work with multidisciplinary teams to ensure interfaces are clearly defined and integrated across the system.\nCollaborate across engineering teams and with customers.\nWork closely with customers and internal multidisciplinary teams throughout the project lifecycle. Communicate technical information clearly and contribute to design discussions, reviews, presentations, and customer deliverables.\nSupport mission operations and future mission development.\nContribute to mission operations activities, including operational planning, anomaly resolution, and coordination with operations teams. Participate in mission concept studies and architecture development for future space missions.\nImprove systems engineering processes and practices.\nContribute to continuous improvement of systems engineering processes and Model-Based Systems Engineering (MBSE) practices. Help develop tools, workflows, and processes that make the team more effective.\nWho Thrives Here \nYou have 2-5 years of experience in systems engineering, spacecraft development, mission design, flight systems, ground systems, or a related aerospace engineering discipline.\nYou have a Bachelor's degree in Aerospace Engineering, Systems Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, or a related engineering discipline.\nYou have strong systems thinking and pay close attention to technical detail and end-to-end system performance.\nYou have experience developing and managing system requirements, verification, and validation activities.\nYou're familiar with systems engineering processes and lifecycle development.\nYou have strong analytical, problem-solving, and technical communication skills.\nYou can collaborate effectively across multidisciplinary engineering teams and communicate with both technical and non-technical stakeholders.\nYou're comfortable managing multiple technical tasks, adapting to evolving requirements, and exercising sound engineering judgment.\nYou're self-motivated, take initiative, and can work independently while contributing to broader team objectives.\nYou have a passion for space exploration and want to contribute to missions that advance the exploration, development, and settlement of space.\nBonus Points if You Have Experience With\nModel-Based Systems Engineering (MBSE), particularly Cameo or similar tools\nPython or another programming/scripting language\nCivil, commercial, or defense space missions\nNASA systems engineering processes, including the NASA Systems Engineering Handbook\nDoD systems engineering processes and acquisition programs\nSpacecraft mission architectures and systems engineering principles\nSpacecraft regulatory activities, including orbital debris assessments or frequency licensing\nActive U.S. security clearance or the ability to obtain one, if required\nA Master's degree in a relevant engineering discipline\nSuccess is Measured By \nDeveloping and managing high-quality system requirements that support mission objectives.\nContributing to successful system architecture, integration, verification, and validation activities.\nProducing thorough technical analyses, trade studies, and engineering recommendations.\nSupporting successful system integration and test activities.\nClearly defining spacecraft and ground system interfaces.\nCollaborating effectively across multidisciplinary engineering teams and with customers.\nContributing to successful mission operations and resolution of technical challenges.\nImproving systems engineering processes, tools, and MBSE practices.\nHelping deliver reliable systems that support successful space missions.\nWhy Join Advanced Space \nWork on real missions that are shaping the future of lunar and deep-space exploration.\nContribute across the full systems engineering lifecycle, from mission formulation through integration, testing, and operations.\nWork alongside experts across mission design, navigation, software, autonomy, and spacecraft systems.\nBe part of a growing company where your technical contributions have a direct impact on mission success.\nJoin a collaborative, multidisciplinary team with the opportunity to work across a variety of space missions and technologies.\nHelp deliver innovation to orbit-and beyond.\nCompensation & Benefits \nBase Salary: $89,000-$116,000 (based on experience, qualifications, and location)\nSigning bonus\nQuarterly performance bonuses\nCompany-sponsored medical benefits and 401(k)\nUnlimited vacation time and extensive flexibility\nRelocation assistance\nHybrid work with at least three days per week in person\nAdvanced Space is an Equal Opportunity Employer.
