The Department of Public Safety at the University of Southern Maine is hiring! Join our team as a Police Specialist. This is a 40-hour per week position on a schedule that is determined by unit seniority and shift bid, with overtime opportunities. The starting pay is $37.41 per hour, plus shift and specialty differentials when applicable

Police Specialists perform duties similar to a Police Officer, including law enforcement, community policing, solving complex community/campus problems, and security service delivery, plus they have specialist responsibilities involving leading the department's investigatory processes and providing subject matter expertise. Police Specialists report to the shift sergeant.

Required Qualifications:

  • Certified law enforcement officer
  • At least three years of law enforcement experience
  • High school diploma or GED
  • Valid Class C Maine driver’s license
