Resolves specimen identification and/or requisition problems and clarifies requests.\nObtains billing/insurance information and/or verifies diagnosis code information.\nEnters and verifies test requests into the laboratories' computer system.\nAnswers and screens telephone calls.\nReceives and sorts specimens and assists with detailed specimen handling; packages and tracks specimens for transport and performs specimen storage and retrieval.\nProcesses specimens for testing, including aliquoting, while maintaining proper specimen identification.\nReviews various pending and management reports. Generates and distributes reports.\nAssists with inventory and ordering of supplies.\nMaintains and files copies of orders, reports and/or correspondence.\nActs as a resource and trains new employees.\nLicensure, Registration, and/or Certification Required:\nNone Required.\nEducation Required:\nHigh School Graduate.\nExperience Required:\nNo experience required.\nKnowledge, Skills & Abilities Required:\nExcellent communication skills.\nBasic computer skills including experience using computer software applications.\nKeyboarding and typing skills.\nAbility to work in a fast paced environment and to handle multiple tasks simultaneously under general supervision.\nDemonstrated customer service skills to interface effectively with physicians, patients, visitors, and other healthcare employees.\nPhysical Requirements and Working Conditions:\nOperates all equipment necessary to perform the job.\nFrequently lifts up to 10 lbs.
