The Controller Team, which is part of Language Access Services, deploys interpreter, modality and resources across the enterprise to meet patient and provider needs. Prefer applicants who live in our enterprise states of GA, IL, NC or WI and meets the requirements below.\nExperience Required:\nTypically requires 5 years of experience in a medical environment performing medical verbal and written interpretation and translation, leading and prioritizing staff work, and acting as a resource to staff on complex cases.\nIncludes 1 year of supervisory experience in a medical environment.\nEducation Required:\nBachelor's Degree (or equivalent knowledge) in Health Care Administration OR Bachelor's Degree (or equivalent knowledge) in Nursing\nKnowledge, Skills & Abilities Required:\nPossesses professional command of bilingual medical terminology, including anatomy and physiology, diagnostic process, treatment, prevention and health education models.\nPossesses knowledge concerning the ethics of medical interpreting as outlined by the National Council on Interpreting in Healthcare (NCIHC).\nAbility to work in challenging situations to oversee the work of interpreters involved in issues of delivering difficult messages including death and dying.\nExcellent human relations and communication skills are necessary.\nBasic computer skills.\nAbility to utilize video interpreting techniques.\nMajor Responsibilities:\nProvides leadership and assumes accountability for the development and implementation of system-wide translation and interpretation systems. Ensures that services are provided in accordance with state and federal regulations, accreditation and compliance requirements, and organizational policy.\nParticipates in strategic planning related to the provision of language services throughout system.\nProvides leadership and accountability for quality monitoring and improvement initiatives related to provision of translation and interpretation services.\nEstablishes and maintains strong working relationships with management, employees and medical staff to develop their abilities to work with and understand the services available to LEP (Limited English Proficient) and the deaf/hard of hearing.\nDesigns activities to improve, promote and publicize Translation and Interpretation Services within the health system.\nDevelops capital and operating budgets in conjunction with the director.\nMonitors budget, analyzes variances and takes appropriate action.\nManages activities of employees. Facilitates training and continuing education of employees. Provides direction and support to subordinate employees to ensure effectiveness and efficiency. Selects, trains, develops, and evaluates subordinates and initiates personnel actions in accordance with departmental policies and organization philosophy.\nActively participates in safety initiatives and risk mitigating measures where appropriate and completes all position and unit safety related competencies and requirements on a timely basis.\nPerforms human resources responsibilities for staff which includes coaching on performance, completes performance reviews and overall staff morale.\n Physical Requirements and Working Conditions:\nMust wear protective clothing (i.e., lead aprons, isolation gowns, protective eyewear) when necessary.\nPosition requires travel.
