Join us.\n We are currently recruiting for the role of Associate Director - Highways Technical Specialist (Starszy Projektant Drogowy) with experience in roadway (or railway) design, to join our ambitious and experienced Linear Infrastructures team. We are working on stages as early as feasibility studies up to detailed designs on a wide range of projects, either as standalone linear infrastructures team or as part of multidisciplinary teams. Our clients are from the private and public sector and include long term Framework Agreements with numerous Local Authorities together with Design and Build commissions for many major Contractors. Our office has an established track record of successfully delivering roadway designs for many years, throughout the USA, Canada and Australia. You may have the opportunity to work on some of the most iconic Transportation projects, being part of a diverse and multicultural Enterprise Capabilities Team (Poland/Spain).\nHere's what you'll do:\nWorks independently on projects or on defined sections of larger highway and linear infrastructure projects.\nPrepares and reviews detailed geometric design calculations, technical reports, and design documentation for highway infrastructure.\nApplies relevant design standards, guidelines, and best engineering practices related to highways and linear infrastructure.\nDelivers highway engineering work in accordance with agreed project scope, budget, and schedule.\nLeads, coordinates, and prioritizes assigned project tasks and design activities.\nPerforms independent self-checks of design work and participates in internal quality control and quality assurance reviews.\nPrepares and reviews project deliverables, including drawings, calculations, reports, and technical specifications.\nCoordinates design work with other disciplines (e.g. drainage, structures, utilities, traffic engineering).\nIdentifies technical risks and proposes practical engineering solutions.\nProvides technical guidance, mentoring, and design support to junior and entry-level engineers.\nSupports the Project Manager in technical decision-making and progress monitoring.\nEnsures compliance with applicable codes, standards, and client requirements.\n Here's what we're looking for:\nProven track record of working on highway designs (+10 years).\nExperience with international regulations and standards (i.e AASTHO; Australian Codes; British Standards, etc.) will be considered favorably.\nExperience in geometrical design at least one of the following packages: InRoads, OpenRoads / OpenRail, Rail Track, Civil 3D, Geopak or 12d Model.\nAdvanced level in CAD software (MicroStation and/or AutoCAD).\nExperience working in the North America region / Australia will be considered favorably.\nAdvanced level of English (oral and written).\nCV in English language.\nPreferred Qualifications\nBachelor or Master degree in Civil Engineering\nUS and/or Australia Professional Engineer license will be considered favorably.\n At AECOM, you will have freedom to grow in a world of opportunity\nOur Freedom to Grow hybrid working philosophy is the cornerstone of our success as a business - supporting a culture of flexibility, trust and performance at AECOM.","description_format":"text","description_chars":4127,"description_truncated":false,"requirements":{"experience_years_min":null,"management_years_min":null,"team_size_min":null,"manages_managers":false,"education":{"level":"master","optional":false},"security_clearance":false,"languages":[{"language":"English","level":"Advanced (C1)","optional":false}]},"benefits":["Hybrid work"],"hiring_locations":[{"name":"Australia","iso":"AU","kind":"country"},{"name":"Poland","iso":"PL","kind":"country"}],"hiring_excludes":[],"relocation_offered":false,"industries":["Urban Planning","Architecture","Management Consulting","Construction"],"lifecycle":[{"event":"open","at":"2026-09-24T08:01:23Z"}],"liveness":{"score":86,"band":"hot","label":"Hiring now","p_open":1,"p_active":0.86,"p_room":1,"age_days":0,"expected_fill_days":38,"reasons":["conf:2","win:early","comp:brand"],"computed_at":"2026-09-24T16:08:07Z"},"pay":null,"html_url":"https://alion.io/job/aecom-associate-director-highways-technical-specialist-2","json_url":"https://alion.io/job/aecom-associate-director-highways-technical-specialist-2.json","meta":{"generated_at":"2026-09-24T16:08:07Z","cache_seconds":300,"methodology":"https://alion.io/methodology","terms":"https://alion.io/terms","contact":"https://alion.io/contact","api":"https://alion.io/developers"}}
