Join us.\n Team Lead - Renewable Energy / Solar Farms\nWe are seeking an experienced and highly motivated Team Lead with a strong background in renewable energy systems, solar PV, BESS, and medium voltage (MV) grid connections to lead our growing renewable energy engineering team.\nThe ideal candidate combines proven technical expertise in solar power system design, MV/HV network integration, and grid compliance with strong people leadership, team development, and project delivery skills. You will be responsible for guiding engineers, ensuring design quality, coordinating resources, and supporting the successful delivery of renewable projects. Proficiency in AutoCAD, PVsyst, and advanced electrical design tools is a strong advantage.\nThis is an excellent opportunity for a senior professional who thrives in multidisciplinary renewable projects and is passionate about building high-performing teams while delivering efficient, reliable, and sustainable electrical engineering solutions.\nKey Responsibilities\n1. Team Leadership & Technical Direction\nLead, mentor, and develop a team of electrical engineers working on utility-scale solar PV, BESS, and hybrid renewable projects, including MV distribution up to 66kV.\nSet technical direction, review designs, approve deliverables, and ensure consistent engineering quality across the team.\nEnsure designs comply with IEC, IEEE, ENA, DNO/TSO requirements, and national grid connection codes.\nSupport recruitment, onboarding, performance development, and career progression for team members.\nPromote a collaborative, safety-focused, and technically excellent working culture.\n2. Solar & Battery Systems Expertise\nOversee the design and integration of solar PV arrays, inverters, transformers, RMUs, and BESS systems into existing grid networks.\nReview and challenge PV yield, losses, equipment selection, protection, and grounding designs using simulation tools such as PVsyst, ETAP, and similar software.\nEnsure safe design practices, including protection coordination, earthing, and arc flash mitigation.\nAdvise clients and internal teams on renewable connection strategies, grid code compliance, and interconnection requirements.\nLead technical coordination meetings, resolve design interfaces, and ensure effective integration with civil, structural, and other engineering disciplines.\nSupport digital workflows using CDE platforms (BIM 360, ACC, Aconex) and model-based collaboration for efficient project delivery.\n3. Project, Resource & Client Management\nAct as the technical and team lead for electrical engineering scopes on large renewable projects.\nAllocate resources, plan workloads, monitor progress, and support project managers with budgets, schedules, risks, and deliverable management.\nCoordinate with developers, EPC contractors, utilities, and independent engineers during project development and execution.\nPrepare and review technical documentation, feasibility reports, proposals, and client design reviews.\nRepresent the team in client meetings, technical reviews, and bid activities.\n4. Construction, Commissioning & Knowledge Sharing\nProvide engineering oversight and support during construction and commissioning stages.\nReview contractor documentation, guide responses to RFIs, and verify electrical installations and testing procedures.\nMentor junior and mid-level engineers, sharing knowledge of renewable design, grid connection, and installation practices.\nIdentify lessons learned and drive continuous improvement in tools, standards, templates, and delivery processes.\nQualifications & Experience\nRequired:\nBachelor’s or Master’s Degree in Electrical Engineering (or related field).\n10+ years of experience in electrical design for renewable energy or utility-scale power projects.\nDemonstrated experience leading engineering teams, managing resources, and delivering projects on time and to quality standards.\nProven track record in solar PV, MV distribution, substations, and grid connection design.\nHands-on understanding of utility standards, protection schemes, grounding, and electrical safety regulations.\nProficiency in AutoCAD, Revit, electrical design tools, and BIM workflows.\nStrong communication, leadership, and stakeholder management skills, with the ability to coordinate multidisciplinary teams.\nPreferred:\nExperience with PVsyst, ETAP, Revit, or similar analysis tools.\nField experience in solar/BESS installation, commissioning, or operations.\nExposure to energy storage systems, hybrid microgrids, and HV grid interconnections.\nFamiliarity with international renewable standards (IEC, ENA, G99/G100) and interconnection processes.\nExperience supporting bids, feasibility studies, technical due diligence, or owner’s engineer scopes.\nProven ability to mentor engineers, delegate effectively, and build a culture of technical excellence.\n At AECOM, we are committed to maintaining a secure and trustworthy recruitment process and take any fraudulent hiring activity seriously.
