Join us.\n We are seeking enthusiastic and motivated Civil & Structural Engineering Apprentices to join our Bridges team in Newcastle.\nAs an apprentice, you’ll gain hands-on experience working on a wide range of projects, from concept design to implementation, for clients operating locally, nationally, and internationally. You’ll be part of a team that values technical excellence, innovation, and collaboration.\nOur Bridges team leads the industry in delivering complex and impactful infrastructure. You may be involved in assessing and maintaining the UK’s bridge network or designing structural renewals for major transport hubs. We use cutting-edge technology and work closely with other disciplines across AECOM to deliver integrated, sustainable solutions.\nCurrent and recent projects include:\nCAFA Wessex\nThames Water pipe bridges\nM40 DBFO\nVarious bridge assessment and inspection projects for local authorities\nAs an apprentice, you will:\nProduce CAD (Computer-Aided Design) drawings\nSupport structural design and desktop publishing tasks\nAssist with project administration and record-keeping\nReview and analyse data\nContribute to problem-solving and design solutions\nParticipate in site visits to gather information or observe conditions\nWork toward achieving Engineering Technician (EngTech) status, and later Incorporated Engineer (IEng) status with the ICE or IStructE\n This role is ideal for school leavers (GCSE or A-Level) who can demonstrate the following:\n Minimum of 5 GCSEs (or equivalent) at grade C/4 or above, including Mathematics and English\n Three A-Levels (or equivalent such as BTEC Level 3 in Civil Engineering), including Maths and a physical science at grade C or above - required for Level 6 Degree Apprenticeship\nSome experience or shadowing in an engineering environment (preferred)\nInterest in software-based engineering and design (e.g., CAD, 3D modelling)\nPassion for bridge structures and a desire to build a career in this field\nCommitment to ongoing learning and professional development\nCreative, practical, adaptable, and enthusiastic mindset\nStrong attention to detail and methodical thinking\nExcellent communication skills, both written and verbal\n Applicants are encouraged to apply as early as possible since CVs will be reviewed, and candidates selected on a rolling recruitment basis for either immediate or advanced offer start. \nPlease include a covering letter with your application and provide all predicted and/or obtained academic grades and details of the dates you are able to work to/from and well as locations you would be interested in. \nYou must have the right to work in the UK. \nAt AECOM, we are committed to maintaining a secure and trustworthy recruitment process and take any fraudulent hiring activity seriously.
