Join us.\n AECOM is actively seeking a highly talented Resident Engineer for construction inspection services to oversee construction in San Antonio, Texas. The Resident Engineer is a full-time on-site role. In this role, you will be responsible for conducting routine inspections of civil infrastructure, identifying defects and potential hazards, and documenting contract compliance. You will also be responsible for producing detailed reports and communicating findings to management and have the primary responsibility for assuring quality of the construction.\nAdditional responsibilities include:\nObserves Contractor’s construction activities.\nAccepts work completed in compliance with contract documents, rejects defective work, maintains log of rejected work, assists with resolution of construction issues.\nCoordinates with Contractor to identify upcoming work; verifies upcoming work against issued look ahead schedules.\nReviews contract requirements, submittals, shop drawings, and other associated documentation.\nCommunicates daily with AECOM’s Project Manager and Contractor's field team in execution of their duties.\nTracks progress of work in the field. Monitors Contractor’s adherence to schedule and provides input on Contractor’s payment requests.\nInspects work for conformance with contract documents, approved change orders, clarifications, etc.; identifies and reports all nonconforming work; documents all work with daily reports, photos and videos.\nTracks and verifies Contractor time and material or force account work.\nConducts inspections to ensure that the work is performed in compliance with the contract documents.\nEnsures delivered materials comply with approved submittals, TxDOT standards and is the correct product from approved vendors.\nObserves and approves Contractor’s testing and QA/QC activities.\nSchedules and monitors AECOM quality assurance testing of materials.\nMaintains necessary project documentation, including daily, weekly, and monthly reports and logs.\nPrepares other required field documentation as necessary.\nProvides input for construction changes. Assist with preparation and negotiation of field orders and change orders.\nTracking quantities installed on daily basis and prepare T&M reports as appropriate.\nObserves implementation of health and safety procedures and practices.\nVerifies Contractor maintenance of As-Built drawings; confirm with Contractor that this is being carried out; review look-ahead schedules. Verification that work is in accordance with the approved shop drawing and sample Submittals.\n Minimum Requirements:\nBA/BS + 8 years of related experience or demonstrated equivalency of experience and/or education.\nRegistered professional engineer and capable of obtaining a license in Texas within 45 days of hire.\nA valid driver's license is required, along with the ability to pass a Motor Vehicle Records (MVR) check in accordance with company policy.\nUS citizenship is required for this role.\nPreferred Qualifications:\nStrong oral and written communication skills.\nKnowledge of QC and QA of internal and external workflows including document management and control.\nExtensive experience with AASHTO SiteManager or AASHTOWare Project- Construction and Materials (APCM)\nRegistered professional engineer in Texas.\n10+ years of experience in Heavy Civil Construction of highways, freeways, bridges and interchanges.\nPhysical fitness and the ability to work in confined spaces and at heights.\nExtensive knowledge of Texas DOT standard specifications and plan standards.\nKnowledge and experience with Scheduling software (i.e. Microsoft Project, P6, etc), Microsoft Word, Excel, and PowerPoint.\nExperience as a Resident Engineer or Construction Manager on projects of at least $100 million.\nOrganizational ability - able to plan, prioritize, organize, and monitor activities and projects.\nExperience managing a medium-sized group of professional and/or technical staff.\nAble to work well in a group environment and foster a team approach.\n At AECOM, we are committed to maintaining a secure and trustworthy recruitment process and take any fraudulent hiring activity seriously.
