Join us.\n AECOM is actively seeking a creative, highly talented Civil Engineer I for employment in our Oakland, California office, with a focus on oil & gas projects.\nThis position is expected to begin ASAP.\nThe successful candidate will have a background in civil engineering and California-specific regulations. Residency in California is required for this role, as this is not a remote position.\nThe responsibilities of this position include, but are not limited to:\nComputer-aided design support for oil & gas projects, including pipelines, site development, and stormwater management.\nSupports report preparation, site reconnaissance, and communications with multi-disciplinary AECOM project teams and clients.\nBuild analytic and design skills with a focus on California oil & gas industry standards.\nKnowledge of civil engineering design principles, including hydrologic and hydraulic modeling concepts.\nCollects and analyzes data under the supervision of an experienced engineer, ensuring compliance with California regulations (e.g., CEQA, CalGEM, CARB, DTSC).\nConducts engineering design and analysis under the supervision of an experienced engineer, with a focus on pipeline design, erosion control, and stormwater systems.\nCreates designs, models, calculations, sketches, diagrams, drawings under the supervision of an experienced engineer.\nPerforms work in accordance with agreed-upon budget and schedule under supervision.\nUnderstands and applies California regulations to develop standards and theories necessary to carry out project design and permitting work.\nMinimum Requirements:\nBachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering and/or demonstrated equivalency of experience and/or education.\nDue to the nature of the work, U.S. Citizenship is required.\nValid Driver's license required to visit project sites, clients, and other AECOM offices.\nAs a condition of employment, the selected candidate must pass a Motor Vehicle Records review and a substance abuse test.\nCandidate will submit to medical surveillance screening upon hire.\nPreferred Qualifications:\nRelevant years of civil engineering experience, preferably in the oil & gas industry.\nDemonstrated experience using Civil3D for civil engineering-related projects, including stormwater, grading, roadway, and pipe networks.\nDemonstrated experience using HydroCAD for hydrologic modeling.\nExperience in site development, erosion control, and stormwater design within California.\nFamiliarity with California-specific regulations (e.g., CEQA, CalGEM permitting, CARB compliance, DTSC hazardous materials).\nEngineer-in-Training (EIT) or Fundamentals of Engineering (FE) preferred (not required).\nProficiency with Microsoft Office tools (Word, Excel, Outlook).\nStrong organizational, technical, and communication skills.\nCommitment to working efficiently to complete tasks within allotted schedule constraints.\nAbility to work as part of a project team comprised of AECOM staff and subcontractors.\nFlexibility to work on a multitude of diverse projects, including California oil & gas infrastructure.\nWillingness to travel, complete field work, and work extended hours, when necessary.\n Relocation assistance is not available for this position.\nAt AECOM, we are committed to maintaining a secure and trustworthy recruitment process and take any fraudulent hiring activity seriously.
