Join us.\n Community Outreach Specialist\nAECOM is seeking a Community Outreach Specialist for the SunGuide Transportation Management Center (TMC) in Miami, Florida. The SunGuide TMC is part of the Transportation Systems Management and Operations (TSM&O) Office at the Florida Department of Transportation (FDOT) District Six. The TSM&O Office is a dynamic, exciting, program within FDOT to operate and maintain the intelligent transportation systems (ITS) infrastructure, utilize its incident management resources, and optimize traffic management strategies. District Six covers Miami-Dade and Monroe Counties. The Community Outreach Specialist’s responsibilities include acting as media spokesperson for the District’s TSM&O program, conducting tours of the TMC, promoting the District’s TSM&O program, and having public information and relations skills. This is a full-time on-site position in Miami, Florida.\nThe Community Outreach Specialist shall be responsible, but not limited to, the following tasks and duties.\nActing as the official media spokesperson when requested by FDOT.\nAdvising staff during crisis situations and providing communication counsel.\nDeveloping and executing comprehensive community outreach campaigns to educate the public on program services.\nDrafting, publishing, and distributing program materials such as press releases, email communications, technical articles, award nominations, news briefs, program presentations, and marketing documents.\nManaging the customer service program to support projects and services.\nLeading partner-agency relations to strengthen cross-promotion and customer service initiatives with FDOT District Four, Florida’s Turnpike Enterprise, Greater Miami Expressway Agency, SunPass, South Florida Commuter Services, FDOT Central Office, transit agencies, Florida Highway Patrol, and other stakeholders.\nMinimum:\nBA/BS degree and minimum six years of experience in public information, communications, or community outreach or demonstrated equivalency of experience and/or education.\nFluency in English\nExperience communicating information clearly, professionally, and consistently across internal and external audiences. \nExperience speaking on camera and to various media outlets\nExpereince understanding and communicating technical subject matter and processes in layman’s terms.\nExperience in speaking in public forum settings, such as large-scale conferences, media interviews, and elected official tours. \nExperience writing technical reports, news articles, public-facing notices, and correspondence.\nDemonstrated experience and ability to remain current with public information, community outreach, marketing, communications trends, and best practices.\nExperience recommending and supporting the implementation of new tools, platforms, and software to improve outreach effectiveness.\nExperience creating accurate information and adhere to deadlines. \nMust pass a State and Federal criminal history/security background check.\nState Law Enforcement Radio System (SLERS) background check is required.\nPreferred:\nKnowledge of the FDOT District TSM&O program and the SunGuide TMC.\nEnglish verbal and written communication skills \nFluency in Spanish.\nKnowledge of the South Florida express lanes network and its customer service.\nKnowledge of TMC Operations.\nKnowledge of incident management and FDOT’s Road Ranger program.\nKnowledge of website maintenance and enhancement.\n Relocation is not an option for this position. \nSponsorship for US employment authorization is not available now or in the future for this position\nAt AECOM, we are committed to maintaining a secure and trustworthy recruitment process and take any fraudulent hiring activity seriously.
