Join us.\n AECOM is seeking a motivated Deputy Design Manager to support colocation and hyperscale data center projects from site due diligence and campus planning through design, construction documents, and construction administration. The ideal candidate has experience supporting project and design managers on data center projects within an A/E environment.\nThis role supports coordination, documentation, and delivery of complex data center projects, with the expectation of increasing independence and the ability to serve as backup Design Manager.\nThis position offers the flexibility of a remote work schedule and can be based from a variety of locations in the US were AECOM has an office.\nAlthough the position is primarily remote periodic travel may be required for client meetings, key project milestones, onsite collaboration sessions, or other business-critical activities. This is a hands-on, client-facing role with an opportunity for upward career mobility.\nProject Coordination and Leadership Support\nSupport the Design Manager in daily project coordination activities across disciplines\nPrepare and distribute meeting agendas and minutes, progressing toward independent ownership\nCapture accurate technical notes during interdisciplinary meetings and coordinate with discipline leads to confirm accuracy\nAttend client and stakeholder meetings and track key decisions, risks, and action items\nProactively assist in tracking, managing, and communicating project changes internally and externally\nGrow into serving as backup to the Design Manager when required\nScheduling and Communication\nCoordinate internal and external design meetings using Microsoft Teams, Zoom, Google Meet, and other client platforms\nTrack action items and follow up with internal teams to ensure timely resolution\nDistribute client communications and internal updates to maintain alignment\nDocumentation and Deliverables Management\nMaintain organized project documentation including RFIs, submittals, drawing revisions, and tracking logs\nUpdate spreadsheets, dashboards, trackers, and internal and external reporting tools\nAssist with specification edits, data entry, and updates within internal reporting systems\nDevelop innovative tracking mechanisms and proactively suggest process improvements\nManage project files across SharePoint, MS Teams, Google Drive, and Box to ensure accessibility and accuracy\nEnsure QA and QC sets, daily prints, and deliverables are properly prepared and stored\nAssist in assembling and organizing final deliverables prior to submission\nSupport Design and Project Managers in developing technical and financial proposals for new and add, move, change data center projects\n Minimum Requirements\nBachelor's Degree + 4 years of related experience or demonstrated equivalency of experience and/or education \n2+ years of experience working in A/E firms\nPreferred Qualifications\nBachelor’s degree in architecture, Mechanical Engineering or Electrical Engineering\nProfessional Engineer (P.E.) or Architecture License\n4 years of relevant experience in design and/or project management\n1 year in colocation and/or hyper-scale data center design management or engineering\nExcellent communication (written/oral) and organization skills\nAbility to work in dynamic, time-sensitive situations\n Relocation is not available for this position\nSponsorship for U.S. employment authorization is not available now or in the future for this position.\nTHIS POSTING IS FOR A CURRENT VACANCY, AND AECOM INTENDS TO FILL THIS POSITION BY JANUARY 6, 2027.\nAt AECOM, we are committed to maintaining a secure and trustworthy recruitment process and take any fraudulent hiring activity seriously.
