Join us.\n AECOM is actively seeking a talented Entry-Level Field Geologist for immediate employment in Colorado Springs, CO or Franklin / Nashville, TN office. This position would support the Environmental Business Line in the exciting and growing field of military munitions response geophysics, working primarily on Federal munitions response projects at various field locations across the United States, Hawaii, Guam, and other international locations. Aspire to be a key player on some of the best projects regionally, nationally, and internationally.\nThis position is expected to begin ASAP.\nUnder the supervision of a Project Geophysicist or senior-level team member, the successful candidate’s responsibilities will include:\nUsing on-the-job learning to apply data acquisition field practices and techniques using advanced near-surface geophysical classification systems to collect geophysical data to identify anomalies related to munitions in the shallow subsurface.\nPerforming supervised field tasks, such as geophysical data acquisition utilizing standard and advanced geophysical classification electromagnetic induction systems, real-time kinematic global navigation satellite systems, and simultaneous location and mapping with LiDAR positioning systems.\nGathering geophysical data and other information to be used in the preparation of scientific reports and compiling and organize environmental data collected by others.\nPreparing basic data and scientific documents utilizing knowledge of natural sciences (geology and geophysics) to explain observations.\nAssisting senior-level team members in planning and coordination efforts of field programs.\nQualified candidates must be prepared for extensive travel and fieldwork in challenging environments. Out-of-state and international travel will be required.\nThis position requires 95-100% field work at project sites.\nThe ideal candidate must be able to work effectively both as an individual and within a collaborative team environment. They must be able to demonstrate effective and timely communication skills. The flexibility to work on a multitude of diverse projects, a positive attitude, and commitment to workplace health and safety are imperative. For the right candidate, this position holds significant potential to learn leadership and management skills that offer growth opportunities within AECOM’s munition response program.\n Minimum Requirements:\nBachelor’s degree in Geology, Geophysics, or related science.\nValid U.S. Driver’s License required to visit project sites, clients, and other AECOM offices. \nAs a condition of employment, selected candidate must pass a Motor Vehicle Records review.\nCandidate will submit to medical surveillance screening upon hire.\nDue to the nature of the work, U.S. citizenship is required.\nPreferred Qualifications:\nGeneral knowledge of geophysical and environmental concepts.\nAbility and desire to travel for weeks- to months-long project assignments.\nStrong organizational skills and the ability to document.\nSafety-minded individual with the desire to implement safe working practices and be an active participant in safety kick-off calls and daily “tailgate” safety briefings.\nExperience with basic Microsoft Office applications (Excel, Access, Word, PowerPoint) and ability to write and to convey complex thoughts and ideas in a clear, concise manner.\nDatabase, GIS, CAD, and visualization software skills are desirable.\nOSHA 40-Hour HAZWOPER Certification or ability to obtain one within 2 months of hire.\nAbility to lift and carry 50 pounds and safely drive a full-size pickup truck.\nTolerance for work in outdoor environments in a range of weather conditions.\n Relocation assistance is not available for this position.\nAt AECOM, we are committed to maintaining a secure and trustworthy recruitment process and take any fraudulent hiring activity seriously.
