This is a fantastic opportunity to learn about and connect with AECOM for early career opportunities.\nAECOM is seeking an Entry Level Geotechnical Engineer to be based inGermantown, MD.\nThis position is expected to begin in immediately/Spring 2027. \nThe responsibilities of this position include, but are not limited to, those listed below:\nAssist in the planning, execution and oversight of geotechnical field exploration and laboratory test programs. \nEvaluate subsurface conditions to determine geotechnical engineering properties and parameters of soil and bedrock. \nPerform geotechnical analyses for shallow foundations including bearing capacity, sliding and settlement. \nConduct seepage and stability analyses for dams, levees, tunnels and natural and man-made slopes. \nDesign deep foundations for buildings, bridges, tanks, and other structures. \nDesign pavements, retaining walls, sheet piles, and other structures. \nPerform liquefaction analysis, site class assessment and seismic hazard analysis. \nAssist in the preparation of geotechnical data reports, geotechnical design reports, memoranda and technical specifications. \nCoordinate with other in-house engineering disciplines as needed. \nOversee subsurface investigation programs and adhere to AECOM's safety culture. \nParticipate in construction oversight and geotechnical exploration. \nTravel domestically and internationally for project needs. \n Minimum Requirements:\nBachelor’s Degree in Civil Engineering with strong coursework in Geotechnical Engineering, soil mechanics, and foundation engineering or demonstrated equivalency of education and/or experience.\nMust have a valid U.S driver’s license and as a condition of employment, must be able to pass AECOM’s Motor Vehicle Records review.\nAbility to work in inclement weather and lift up to 50 lbs.\nWilling to travel domestically and internationally 50% of the time.\nPreferred Qualifications:\nMaster’s degree in Civil Engineering with a focus in Geotechnical Engineering.\nAbility to adhere to project schedules and budgets.\nEIT Certification.\nBasic knowledge of industry-standard software (e.g., AutoCAD, gINT, MathCAD, OpenGround).\n Sponsorship for US employment authorization is not available now or in the future for this position.\nRelocation is not available for this position. \nOccasional travel to project sites, client meetings, and/or professional conferences is required.\nAt AECOM, we are committed to maintaining a secure and trustworthy recruitment process and take any fraudulent hiring activity seriously.
