Join us.\n AECOM is seeking an Environmental Technician to join our Environment Business Line in Deepwater, New Jersey. This is an excellent opportunity for an early-career professional who is interested in building a career in environmental consulting and gaining hands-on experience with environmental investigation, sampling, and remediation projects. You will work alongside experienced Field Technicians, Geologists, Scientists, and Environmental Engineers while supporting a long-term chemical manufacturing client in Southern New Jersey, as well as a variety of other environmental projects throughout the region.\nThis role is well suited for someone who enjoys working outdoors, is mechanically inclined, and takes pride in collecting accurate field data and solving practical problems. You will receive hands-on training in environmental sampling techniques, field documentation, equipment operation, and health and safety practices while developing the technical skills needed to grow within AECOM's environmental practice.\nKey Responsibilities\nPerform routine environmental field activities under the direction of experienced environmental professionals, including groundwater, soil, sediment, and surface water sampling.\nSupport environmental investigation, monitoring, and remediation projects for industrial, manufacturing, and other commercial clients.\nAssist with the operation, maintenance, and troubleshooting of field equipment, including pumps, generators, sampling equipment, field instruments, and company vehicles.\nCollect, label, preserve, and document environmental samples in accordance with established procedures and project requirements.\nMaintain accurate field notes, logs, sample documentation, photographs, and other project records.\nAssist with environmental monitoring and remediation activities at active client sites and follow established project procedures.\nApply mechanical aptitude and problem-solving skills to troubleshoot field equipment and address routine field challenges.\nFollow AECOM and client health and safety requirements, including site-specific procedures, personal protective equipment requirements, and safe work practices.\nCommunicate field observations and project information clearly to project managers, scientists, engineers, and other team members.\nAssist with preparation of field reports, data summaries, and other project documentation.\nMaintain and organize field equipment and supplies to ensure readiness for upcoming field activities.\nWork independently in the field while maintaining communication with project teams and escalating issues when appropriate.\nParticipate in cross-training and additional project assignments to expand technical capabilities and gain experience across environmental services.\nTravel to other project locations throughout Southern New Jersey and the surrounding region as needed.\n Minimum Requirements\nHigh School Diploma or GED equivalent\nA valid driver's license is required, along with the ability to pass a Motor Vehicle Records (MVR) check in accordance with company policy\nMust pass applicable State and Federal background checks.\nMust pass pre-employment drug screen.\nMust attend and pass 40-hour OSHA training and physical.\nUS Citizenship is a requirement for this role\nPreferred Qualifications\nAssociate or bachelor’s degree in Environmental Science, Geology, Biology, Chemistry, Engineering, or a related discipline.\n2+ years of experience supporting environmental field sampling, investigation, remediation, construction, industrial operations, or related field activities.\nExperience with groundwater, soil, sediment, or surface water sampling.\nMechanical aptitude and experience operating, maintaining, or troubleshooting pumps, generators, vehicles, field instruments, or other equipment.\nFamiliarity with environmental health and safety practices and working at industrial or manufacturing facilities.\nAbility to accurately complete field documentation, logs, forms, and sample records.\nCurrent OSHA 40-Hour HAZWOPER certification\nStrong communication, organizational, and problem-solving skills.\nWillingness to learn new environmental field techniques and work collaboratively as part of a multidisciplinary project team.\n Must be able to travel to various field site locations utilizing a personal, or in some cases, an AECOM company vehicle\nAt AECOM, we are committed to maintaining a secure and trustworthy recruitment process and take any fraudulent hiring activity seriously.
