Join us.\n AECOM Canada is seeking a motivated and analytical Financial Analyst to join our Finance Development Program in a new position to be based in Markham, ON. This role is designed for recent graduates who are interested in building a career in finance, project accounting, financial planning and analysis (FP&A), and business operations.\nThrough a structured rotational experience, the successful candidate will gain exposure to financial planning, project financial management, internal controls, and operational finance processes while supporting some of Canada's largest infrastructure and professional services projects.\nThis role will work closely with Finance Managers, Project Accounting teams and FP&A professionals to help drive financial performance across AECOM 's Canadian businesses and provides a unique opportunity to develop technical, analytical, and business partnering skills while learning the fundamentals of project-based financial management.\nWhat You Will Learn\nThroughout the program, the Finance Graduate will gain practical experience in:\nFinancial Planning & Analysis (FP&A)\nOperational Finance & Business Partnering\nWorking Capital Management\nFinancial Forecasting & Budgeting\nProject Finance\nBusiness Intelligence & Data Analytics\nExecutive Reporting\nProfessional Services and Infrastructure Project Economics\nInternal Controls, Compliance & Governance\nKey Responsibilities\nFinancial Planning & Analysis\nSupport monthly, quarterly, and annual financial reporting processes.\nAssist with budgeting, forecasting, business planning, and outlook submissions.\nDevelop and enhance management reports, dashboards, and financial analysis tools.\nAnalyze financial and operational performance trends and provide actionable insights.\nAssist with automation initiatives and continuous process improvements using financial systems and reporting tools.\nSupport ad hoc reporting, variance analysis, and special projects.\nProject Accounting & Financial Operations\nManage a portfolio of projects and support project financial administration activities.\nAssist Project Managers and Finance teams with project setup, maintenance, invoicing, and revenue recognition processes.\nMonitor project performance, profitability, backlog, unbilled receivables, and cash collection metrics.\nSupport month-end close activities and project financial reviews.\nLearn project accounting fundamentals and gain exposure to the full project lifecycle from project setup through project closeout.\nFinance Team Support\nSupport Project Accounting Managers with recurring weekly and monthly processes.\nAssist with:P&L Proforma reviews\nConsolidated percentage-of-completion reporting\nAccounts receivable and Unbilled reserve analysis\nODC accrual reviews\nR18 and project financial review processes\n\nPrepare analysis and supporting schedules for management review.\nInternal Controls, Compliance & Governance\nParticipate in maintaining compliance with Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP).\nSupport activities related to Sarbanes-Oxley (SOX) compliance and internal control requirements.\nAssist with documenting and improving financial processes and controls.\nContribute to ensuring accuracy, transparency, and accountability in financial reporting and business practices.\n Required Qualifications\nRecent university graduate with a Bachelor's degree in Finance, Accounting or a related discipline.\nPreferred Qualifications\nWorking toward CPA designation or interest in pursuing CPA.\nInternship, co-op, or relevant work experience in finance, accounting, consulting, engineering, or professional services is an asset.\nPreferred Skills & Competencies\nStrong analytical and problem-solving skills.\nAdvanced Excel skills and an aptitude for data analysis.\nInterest in financial modelling and business performance management.\nWell-developed interpersonal, presentation and communication skills including a proven ability to develop and maintain productive working relationships\nStrong attention to detail with a commitment to accuracy.\nAbility to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment.\nCuriosity, initiative, and a willingness to learn.\nProficiency in Microsoft Office; knowledge of AI and Business Intelligence tools.\n Relocation is not available for this position.\nSponsorship for Canadian employment authorization is not available for this position.\nAt AECOM, we are committed to maintaining a secure and trustworthy recruitment process and take any fraudulent hiring activity seriously.
