Join us.\n AECOM’s Ports and Maritime team is seeking a Graduate Ports Engineer with a civil and structural academic background to support in a technical role across multiple UK and international projects.\nYou’ll join an established team with over 200 years of combined experience, delivering world-class maritime and coastal infrastructure. Our portfolio includes projects for local authorities, private developers, defence clients, and internal AECOM teams in the UK and overseas.\nAs a Graduate Ports Engineer, you will develop and learn the skills to undertake design, analysis and supervision of civil and structural works, in the marine and coastal environment. Typical projects include the development, rehabilitation, and protection of port and harbour structures such as quay walls, jetties, piers, revetments, breakwaters, dolphins, fendering systems, linkspan supports, and scour protection.\nYou’ll contribute to all stages of the project lifecycle - from concept and feasibility through to detailed design and construction support - ensuring solutions are safe, sustainable, and compliant with UK and international standards.\nWe provide industry leading support to different Sectors; Renewable Energy, Decarbonisation of infrastructure, Global Goods Movement, Defence Resilience, Cruise ports, Rehabilitation of historic structures, Marinas, Waterfront Development, Fishing Industry and Ferry Terminal to keep communities connected, these are some of them.\nYou will be working in a supportive team learning to deliver, developing your skills and experience in:\nStructural design and analysis of maritime and coastal structures using relevant design codes (BS, Eurocodes, PIANC, CIRIA, ICE guidance).\nUsing current computer software (including but not limited to ROBOT, GRLWEAP, WALLAP, TEDDS, PLAXIS 3D and others).\nDeveloping concept, preliminary, and detailed designs for new build and refurbishment projects, including quay walls, jetties, revetments, breakwaters, dolphins, linkspans, and related works.\nCarrying out stability, bearing capacity, and durability assessments of marine structures under wave, current, and corrosion effects.\nDesigning and specifying fendering systems, mooring arrangements, and scour protection measures.\nPrepare and review technical reports, design drawings, specifications, and tender documentation.\nConducting site inspections and structural condition surveys and prepare inspection reports.\nLiaising effectively with clients, contractors, port authorities, and regulatory bodies.\nCollaborating with geotechnical, hydraulic, environmental, and coastal process engineers across multidisciplinary teams.\nUnderstand and learn compliance with Health & Safety, Environmental, and CDM Regulations.\nProviding technical support during construction, review contractor submissions, and respond to site queries.\nContributing to knowledge sharing and continuous improvement within the team.\nCome grow with us - and help design the future of resilient coastal and port infrastructure.\n Ready to push the limits of what’s possible?\nHere’s what we’re looking for:\nBEng (hons) in Civil, Structural with a 2:1 (or equivalent) or above or any Maritime Engineering qualification similar\nMEng (hons) in Civil, Structural would be an advantage\nIdeally, a final year project related to Port, Marine or Coastal Engineering would be advantageous\nFamiliarity with relevant British Standards, and Eurocodes.\nExcellent written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to liaise with multidisciplinary teams and clients.\nYou must have the right to work in the UK and be able to achieve SC clearance with no Caveats (UK National Only)\n Applicants are encouraged to apply as early as possible since CVs will be reviewed, and candidates selected on a rolling recruitment basis for either immediate or advanced offer start. \nPlease include a covering letter with your application and provide all predicted and/or obtained academic grades and details of the dates you are able to work to/from and well as locations you would be interested in. \nYou must have the right to work in the UK and be able to achieve SC clearance with no Caveats (UK National Only)\nAt AECOM, we are committed to maintaining a secure and trustworthy recruitment process and take any fraudulent hiring activity seriously.
