We’re one global team - 47,000 strong - driven by a common purpose to deliver a better world.\n Job Purpose\nProvide specialist technical oversight for the ±500 kV VSC-HVDC terminal stations, including converter technology, AC/DC system interfaces, converter transformers, valves, reactors, filters, control, protection and system integration.\nKey Responsibilities\nReview the overall HVDC system architecture, design criteria and technical interfaces.\nReview OEM documents for VSC converters, converter valves, converter transformers and associated auxiliaries.\nReview AC/DC filters, phase reactors, smoothing reactors, harmonic filters and reactive-power equipment.\nReview station control, pole control, valve control, protection, monitoring and sequence-of-events systems.\nReview operating modes, power-control functions, voltage and reactive-power control and system recovery philosophy.\nReview control and protection coordination between the HVDC system, AC substations, grid protection, SCADA and telecom systems.\nReview applicable system studies, including load flow, short circuit, harmonic, insulation coordination, overvoltage, dynamic-performance and electromagnetic-interference studies.\nVerify technical interfaces between converter transformers, valves, cooling systems, control systems and station auxiliaries.\nReview converter hall, valve hall, equipment-layout and environmental requirements.\nReview OEM manufacturing, installation, testing and commissioning procedures.\nParticipate in design reviews, interface meetings, model-validation reviews and technical workshops.\nReview control and protection settings, logic diagrams, interlocks, trip matrices and functional specifications.\nReview factory and site testing documentation where included in the contracted scope.\nSupport resolution of complex technical issues during installation, testing and system integration.\nReview readiness for subsystem testing, station integration, energization and trial operation.\nAdvise the Client on HVDC performance risks, OEM deviations, design gaps and mitigation measures.\nSupport review of as-built documentation, operating manuals and training requirements.\nKey Deliverables\nHVDC design and OEM-document review comments.\nHVDC interface register.\nControl and protection review report.\nSystem-study review memorandum.\nHVDC technical-risk register.\nTesting and commissioning-readiness assessment.\nFinal HVDC technical-compliance report.\nMinimum Qualification and Experience\nBachelor's or master's degree in Electrical Engineering, Power Systems or Power Electronics.\nMinimum 12 years of experience in HVDC, FACTS, power-electronic converter systems or EHV system integration.\nDemonstrated experience with VSC-HVDC or comparable converter-based transmission systems.\nKnowledge of HVDC control, protection, system studies, converter transformers, valves and harmonic performance.\nExperience in OEM design review, testing and commissioning is preferred.\n Provide specialist technical oversight for the ±500 kV VSC-HVDC terminal stations, including converter technology, AC/DC system interfaces, converter transformers, valves, reactors, filters, control, protection and system integration.\nAt AECOM, we are committed to maintaining a secure and trustworthy recruitment process and take any fraudulent hiring activity seriously.
