Join us.\n Company Description\nAECOM is the world’s trusted infrastructure consulting firm, partnering with clients to solve their most complex challenges and deliver a better world.\nJob Description\nAECOM is seeking a Senior Industrial Mechanical Engineer with experience with chem gas to lead the design of specialty gas, bulk gas and chemical distribution systems for our Advanced Manufacturing practice. You will be the technical authority on hazardous production materials and ultra-high-purity (UHP) systems, working directly with client facilities, EHS and tool teams from concept through turnover. Business sectors: semiconductor, battery, energy and nuclear fuel, and defense and aerospace.\nResponsibilities include, but are not limited to:\nDesign bulk and specialty gas systems (N₂, O₂, Ar, H₂, He, CDA; silane, NH₃, NF₃, HF, Cl₂, WF₆), including gas cabinets, VMBs/VMPs, purifiers and point-of-use connections.\nDesign bulk chemical distribution for acids, bases, solvents, CMP slurry and battery electrolyte: dispense units, day tanks, reclaim and double-contained piping with leak detection.\nSpecify UHP materials and quality: EP 316L stainless, PFA/PVDF, orbital welding, cleanliness, and particle, moisture and O₂ certification testing.\nLead code and life-safety strategy: IBC/IFC Group H occupancy, MAQ and control-area analysis, HPM rooms, and HMIS/HMMP documentation.\nCoordinate toxic gas monitoring, emergency shutdown and exhaust abatement with HVAC, fire protection and controls.\nDevelop P&IDs, utility matrices, tool hookup and point-of-connection (POC) design, and hydraulic and pressure-drop calculations.\nSupport construction: submittals, RFIs, pressure and leak testing, commissioning and turnover.\nServe as client-facing technical lead in workshops and pursuits; mentor plumbing and mechanical engineers to extend AECOM’s process-system capability.\nThis role may require travel as needed to client sites.\n Minimum Requirements\nBachelor's degree in Mechanical or Chemical Engineering, or related field and 6 years of experience designing specialty gas or chemical distribution systems for semiconductor, battery, pharmaceutical or similar high-purity facilities or demonstrated equivalency of experience and/or education.\nWorking knowledge of NFPA 55, NFPA 400, ASME B31.3, IFC hazardous materials provisions and CGA standards.\nPE license, or ability to obtain PE within 24 months.\nProficiency in Revit and/or AutoCAD Plant 3D and P&ID development.\nDue to the nature of the role, United States citizenship is required.\nPreferred Qualifications\n8+ years of experience, including 5+ years designing specialty gas or chemical distribution systems for semiconductor, battery, pharmaceutical or similar high-purity facilities.\nSemiconductor fab or tool-install experience; familiarity with SEMI S2, S6 and F-series standards and NFPA 318.\nHydrogen systems, battery (electrolyte, NMP recovery) or NRC/DOE-regulated fuel-cycle facility experience.\nBackground with an EPC, tool-install contractor or industrial gas supplier.\nSteam, heat-transfer fluid or process chemical system design.\nU.S. citizenship and ability to obtain a security clearance (required for Federal and defense projects).\n Relocation assistance may be available.\nSponsorship for U.S. employment authorization is not available.\nAt AECOM, we are committed to maintaining a secure and trustworthy recruitment process and take any fraudulent hiring activity seriously.
