Join us.\n AECOM is seeking a Structural Engineer (Mid-to-Senior Structural Engineer) to be based in Denver, CO. This Structural Engineer will support a wide range of projects across industries including commercial, industrial, government, aviation, and technology. You will lead structural design on mid-size projects (typically $5M-$50M construction value), direct small teams (2-6 engineers/technicians), perform and review calculations and drawings, mentor junior staff, and represent the structural discipline in client and interdisciplinary meetings. This position offers significant project ownership while continuing to deepen advanced analytical expertise in seismic design, adaptive reuse, condition assessments, performance-based design, and complex lateral systems - all in Denver’s thriving aviation, technology, commercial, and federal markets.\nJoin our award-winning Buildings + Places team and take the next step from independent designer (Engineer III) to senior technical advisor and project leader (Engineer IV).\nAbout Buildings + Places\nAECOM’s Buildings + Places practice includes architecture, interiors, building engineering, workplace strategy, business transformation, asset advisory, economics and development planning, master planning, urban planning, and landscape architecture in a dynamic, interactive, and creative work environment.\nWith a range of expertise from strategy and design through project realization, we create better outcomes to grow economies, protect natural systems, conserve natural resources, make societies more equitable and connect and engage people through innovative, sustainable design solutions.\nThe responsibilities of this position include, but are not limited to:\nServe as a Mid-to-Senior technical resource and formal QC owner for structural engineering deliverables.\n Lead structural design on mid-size projects and major tasks on large/complex projects.\nDirect and manage small teams of engineers and technicians (typically 2-6 staff).\n Independently perform and review structural calculations, drawings, specifications, and reports.\nPerform quality control reviews of calculations and drawings prepared by others.\nDevelop structural cost estimates and write technical specification sections.\nLead or significantly contribute to interdisciplinary coordination and design reviews.\nRepresent structural engineering in client meetings and presentations.\nProvide regular mentorship and technical guidance to Engineer I-III staff.\nPerform advanced seismic analysis and retrofit design (including ASCE 41 and performance-based approaches)\nConduct condition assessments, feasibility studies, and structural investigations.\nOversee construction administration activities including submittal reviews, RFIs, and site observations.\nEnsure projects are completed on schedule and within budget with minimal supervision.\n Minimum Requirements:\nBachelor’s degree in Civil or Structural Engineering from an accredited program.\n6+ years of relevant structural engineering experience or demonstrated equivalency of experience and/or education\nValid U.S. Driver’s License required to visit project sites, clients, and other AECOM offices.\nAs a condition of employment, selected candidate must pass a Motor Vehicle Records review.\nPreferred Qualifications:\nMaster’s degree in Structural Engineering.\n10+ years of progressive experience.\nProfessional Engineer (PE) license in Colorado (or ability to obtain via comity within 6 months).\nStructural Engineer (SE) license in California, or another high-seismic state.\nProven experience with major building codes (IBC, ASCE 7, ACI 318, AISC, TMS 402/602, NDS).\nAdvanced proficiency in 3D structural analysis software (ETABS, SAP2000, RISA, RAM Structural, SAFE, etc.).\nDemonstrated experience designing concrete, steel, masonry, and timber.\nStrong experience in wind and seismic lateral design, including retrofit of existing structures.\nProficiency with Revit, AutoCAD, Bluebeam, and Microsoft Office Suite.\nExcellent written and verbal communication skills.\nExperience with performance-based seismic design and nonlinear analysis.\nExperience with ASCE 41 for retrofit of existing structures.\nAdvanced Revit/BIM modeling and coordination skills.\nPrevious aviation, federal, or large commercial project experience.\n Sponsorship is not available now or in the future.\nThis position requires a hybrid work schedule with regular in-office presence in Denver, CO. \nAt AECOM, we are committed to maintaining a secure and trustworthy recruitment process and take any fraudulent hiring activity seriously.
