Grow here.\n We are seeking a Principal Engineer-BESS (Renewables) to join our Energy team in India. This is an exciting opportunity for a motivated engineer to contribute to impactful Energy projects across global offices and continue developing their technical expertise in a supportive, high-performing team.\nLead electrical design for BESS and renewable projects (FEED, detailed design, assurance).\nDesign the BESS balance of plant (BOP) systems.\nDevelop grid connection solutions (11kV-400kV) for energy storage and renewables.\nCollaborate with multi-disciplinary teams and clients to deliver innovative solutions.\nWork on large projects and frameworks with renewable energy generation developers, mostly in UK and Ireland but also with some global projects.\nUndertake Front End Engineering Design (FEED), design for planning, feasibility studies etc. of energy storage systems including associated grid connections, control and metering.\nSupport the team with bidding, project and quality management.\nReady to push the limits of what’s possible?\nHere’s what we’re looking for:\nPrevious experience with consultancy, contractor, equipment manufacturer or electrical utility in the energy sector. Suitable experience as FEED designer, detailed design or owner’s engineer role.\nA good understanding of both renewable generation and energy storage technology in general and, in particular, battery storage technology of all types and chemistries.\nExperience designing the MV or HV grid connection, metering, control requirements etc. associated with battery storage installations, including BESS collocated with renewable energy generation.\nKnowledge of grid connection requirements for renewable generation and energy storage, including G99, G100 and grid code requirements for transmission connected assets.\nGood understanding of electrical plant items and control systems such as transformers, cables, circuit breakers, HV Protection & Control.\nGood team player with a client-focused mindset and customer facing skills.\nAbility to work flexibly across multiple projects.\nThe successful candidate will have the following Qualifications:\nB. Tech/ Master of Engineering degree (or equivalent education) in an appropriate engineering discipline from an accredited college or university. \n10-14 Years (Exposure to outside India projects preferably UK, USA, Canad, Middle East & ANZ region)\nSoftware: HOMER, Microsoft Excel\nAn understanding of Project management (incl. budget, time and quality).\nExperience of multi-discipline engineering projects.\nExperience of design & site construction review.\nThe role is focused on energy storage, but knowledge of grid connection considerations will be advantageous.\nProfessional registration is desirable (e.g., Chartered Engineer or working toward it).\nExperience with software tools (AutoCAD, EnergyPro, CYMCAP, Cableizer, Autodesk Construction Cloud, ETAP, DigSILENT.\nKnowledge of emerging technologies (Hybrid systems-grid forming inverters, LDES and alternative battery technology).\n At AECOM, our Freedom to Grow philosophy supports flexibility and balance to help our people thrive.
