Join us.\n ECOM is seeking a Team Lead for Electrical and I&C Industrial Systems to join our team in a senior technical and leadership capacity. This role is the primary discipline authority for LV electrical and I&C design across complex, high-profile projects spanning commercial, institutional, and infrastructure sectors. The successful candidate will develop and manage a team of engineers, equipped with most updated design tools, to execute projects and consulting services, and he will actively develop the next generation of electrical engineers and/or I&C engineers.\nThe role carries direct accountability for technical design quality, team performance, client relationships, and business development contribution within the Electrical and I&C Engineering practice.\nResponsibilities\nTechnical Leadership\nLead and sign off on LV/MV electrical designs across all stages including power distribution, switchgear, protection coordination, and fault level studies and/or I&C system designs including instrumentation, control systems architecture, PLC/SCADA systems, functional safety systems, and industrial automation solutions.\n\nServe as Lead Verifier on projects, confirming technical approaches meet client expectations and regulatory requirements.\n\nApprove and sign off on technical deliverables including calculations, specifications, drawings, and equipment schedules for Electrical and/or I&C systems within area of competency.\n\nLead quality control reviews of all electrical designs, calculations, and deliverables, ensuring technical excellence and compliance with client requirements and industry standards for Electrical and/or I&C disciplines.\n\nProvide specialized technical expertise and act as the internal subject matter expert for complex LV/MV technical solutions and/or instrumentation, control and automation systems.\n\nDrive innovation in design and delivery: implement new techniques, tools, and methodologies to improve quality, efficiency, and value.\n\nFacilitate and lead interdisciplinary coordination reviews, ensuring fully integrated and clash-free designs.\n\nEnsure design software standards, methodologies, and software standards are maintained across the team.\n\nDevelop and manage engineering budgets and schedules for large projects, ensuring alignment with project goals and business objectives.\n\nAct as specialist lead on projects, with sign-off authority in Electrical Engineering and/or I&C Engineering.\n\nPresent complex LV technical solutions and/or I&C technical solutions to clients and stakeholders clearly and compellingly.\n\nSupport business development by contributing to technical proposals, estimates, and client engagement strategies.\n\nBuild and maintain strong client relationships, acting as a trusted technical advisor on LV systems strategy and/or instrumentation, control and automation systems strategy.\n\nIdentify opportunities for service expansion and contribute to the growth of the electrical and I&C engineering practice.\n\nPeople Leadership\nLead, develop, and inspire a multidisciplinary team of Electrical Engineers, I&C Engineers, and BIM Technicians.\n\nEstablish team objectives, performance expectations, development plans, and utilization targets aligned with project and business needs.\n\nManage resource planning, workload allocation, and utilization across projects.\n\nFoster a culture of technical excellence, collaboration, innovation, and continuous improvement.\n\nMentor, coach, and train engineers at all levels, supporting technical and professional growth.\n\nConduct performance reviews and provide ongoing feedback and development support.\n\nSupport recruitment, onboarding, retention, and succession planning activities.\n\nEnsure appropriate technical expertise and capability are maintained across both Electrical and I&C disciplines.\n\n Qualifications & Experience:\nRequired:\nBachelor’s or Master’s degree in Electrical Engineering, Instrumentation & Control Engineering, Automation Engineering, Control Systems Engineering, or a closely related field.\n\nExtensive experience in electrical engineering with a focus on industrial design, including proven leadership on major projects or equivalent experience in Instrumentation & Control Engineering, industrial automation, and control systems.\n\nProfessional registration or active pursuit thereof: CEng (IET/CIBSE), PE (NCEES), or national equivalent is a plus.\n\nDeep technical knowledge of power distribution and/or instrumentation, control systems, industrial automation, and associated international standards.\n\nExcellent written and verbal communication skills; able to influence and negotiate at senior levels.\n\nExperience in mentoring, coaching, and developing engineering teams.\n\nDemonstrated ability to implement new techniques and drive continuous improvement in design delivery.\n\nPreferred\nThe successful candidate may have a primary specialization in Electrical Engineering or Instrumentation & Control Engineering, while providing leadership, technical governance, and oversight across the combined Electrical & I&C Engineering team.\n\nHighly proficient in Revit for LV electrical design and documentation and/or equivalent I&C engineering design tools and platforms.\n\nExperienced with Common Data Environment platforms (e.g., ACC, BIM 360, Trimble Connect).\n\nAble to develop and implement technical strategies aligned with business objectives.\n\nDemonstrated ability to implement or develop automation solutions for electrical design workflows and/or industrial control and instrumentation engineering workflows.\n\nPassionate about developing others and sharing technical expertise across disciplines.\n\n At AECOM, we are committed to maintaining a secure and trustworthy recruitment process and take any fraudulent hiring activity seriously.
