You will combine hands-on technical expertise with responsibility for design quality, engineering budgets and schedules, helping teams deliver practical solutions that meet project requirements.\nHow you’ll make a difference\nServe as lead engineer highway projects, guiding technical delivery and coordinating multidisciplinary design interfaces.\n\nProvide specialist highways engineering input into feasibility studies, concept development and detailed design.\n\nReview, approve and sign off engineering deliverables within your area of expertise and delegated authority.\n\nUndertake quality control reviews of work prepared by others, ensuring technical accuracy and compliance with relevant standards.\n\nDevelop and present complex technical solutions to clients, explaining design decisions, risks and recommendations clearly.\n\nPrepare engineering budget and schedule estimates, defining the scope and resources required for delivery.\n\nContribute to technical proposals, including methodology, scope, fee estimates and programme development.\n\nSupport engineers through technical guidance, constructive design reviews and knowledge sharing.\n\n The qualities that help you thrive\nThe following qualifications and experience are highly desired, but if you don’t tick all the boxes you could still be a perfect fit for this role.
