Join us.\n Principal Power System Engineer\nThe Principal Power System Engineer is responsible for leading the design, analysis, and optimization of complex transmission and distribution networks, as well as renewable energy plants. This role ensures the safety, reliability, and efficiency of the power grid through advanced engineering studies, innovative technical solutions, and compliance with international standards. Expertise in PSCAD and DIgSILENT PowerFactory is essential for performing in-depth grid simulations, renewable integration studies, and network modelling.\nKey Responsibilities:\nSystem Design and Engineering:\nDesign HV/MV power system infrastructure, including substations, transformers studies and reports (harmonics, power quality studies, thermal ratings and loss evaluation) and renewable energy grid connections.\nPerform studies: load flow, short-circuit, arc-flash, and stability analysis.\nEnsure designs meet technical, client, and regulatory standards.\nInsulation Coordination Studies:\nDevelop a detailed model of the substation using PSCAD/Digsilent/ ETAP software.\nPerform studies: transformer energization, transient overvoltage, switching overvoltage, fast font overvoltage.\nEnsure designs meet technical, client, and regulatory standards.\nProvide recommendations so that the substation design meets the requirements for Insulation Coordination.\nGrid Compliance Studies for renewables:\nDevelop a detailed model of the plant using PSCAD/Powerfactory software.\nPerform steady state studies: load flow, short circuit, reactive power capability, network losses, power quality etc.\nPerform steady dynamic (RMS) and transient (EMT) studies to check the power plant’s response: voltage and frequency stability, fault ride through, change in voltage angle, sub synchronous oscillations etc.\nCheck to see if the plant’s designs meet technical and regulatory standards.\nProject Management:\nPlan and coordinate T&D project activities and schedules.\nCollaborate with teams, contractors, and Aecom clients.\nPrepare reports, estimates, and resource plans for the team.\nCompliance and Standards:\nEnsure alignment with IEC, IEEE, NERC, and regional codes.\nFollow industry best practices and promote safety and quality.\nDocumentation and Reporting:\nPrepare technical documents, drawings, calculation sheets and study reports.\nPresent findings and recommendations to client meetings and Aecom Lead offices.\n Mandatory Qualifications:\nEducation: Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering\nundefined\nExperience: Minimum 5 years of experience in power system design, analysis, or construction within transmission and distribution networks.\nundefined\nTechnical Expertise: Demonstrated hands-on experience with PSCAD and PowerFactory for grid modeling, dynamic simulations, and renewable interconnection studies.\nundefined\nSkills: Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities, effective communication, teamwork, and a solid understanding of electrical and grid principles relevant to transmission substations and power networks.\nNice to Have:\nPrior experience with advanced power system studies related to grid connection (e.g., using ETAP, PSSE, SKM and others).\nExperience preparing technical study reports for renewable energy grid connection projects, transient stability studies\nKnowledge of protection coordination\nBackground in technical consulting or acting as a subject-matter expert.\nFamiliarity with International Standards (IEC, IEEE, ANSI, British and Australian Standards).\n At AECOM, we are committed to maintaining a secure and trustworthy recruitment process and take any fraudulent hiring activity seriously.
