Join us.\n The Technical Lead is a senior individual contributor responsible for executing and overseeing end-to-end payroll accounting activities with a high level of accuracy, compliance, and timeliness. This role acts as the technical expert and primary point of escalation for complex reconciliations, journal entries, and payroll-related financial analysis. The Payroll Accounting Technical Lead partners closely with Payroll, HR, and Finance stakeholders to maintain the integrity of payroll financial data and ensure adherence to internal controls, SOX requirements, and audit standards. The role also drives process improvements, promotes best practices, and supports a culture of accountability and operational excellence within the payroll accounting function.\nServe as the main point of contact for coordinating payroll accounting activities across payroll process leads, senior specialists, and specialists to ensure accurate and timely results.\nOversee and perform the preparation, review, and posting of payroll journals, accruals, and reconciliations.\nEnsure adherence to internal controls, company policies, and statutory reporting requirements.\nReview and validate reconciliations for accuracy, completeness, and proper documentation.\nAct as the primary liaison for internal and external audits related to payroll accounting.\nPartner with Payroll Operations, HR, and Finance to investigate and resolve discrepancies and issues.\nTrack performance against SLAs and ensure all deliverables are completed within required timelines.\nLead remediation initiatives and conduct learning sessions to enhance GBS expertise in payroll accounting processes and controls.\nProvide subject-matter guidance to peers and serve as an escalation point for complex issues.\nPrepare and present reports and analytics on payroll accounting performance, variances, and trends.\nSupport back-up coverage planning and contribute to business continuity across the payroll accounting function.\n Bachelor’s degree in Accountancy, Finance, or a related field\nMinimum of 6-8 years of accounting experience, including 4+ years in payroll accounting\nStrong understanding of end-to-end payroll accounting processes, including accruals, reconciliations, and variance analysis\nExperience in systems such as Workday, ADP, Oracle, or SAP\nCPA qualification preferred but not required\nFamiliarity with Blackline or similar reconciliation tools is an advantage\nStrong analytical, leadership, and stakeholder management skills\nExcellent communication, problem-solving, and organizational skills\nAbility to work under pressure and manage multiple priorities in a dynamic environment\n At AECOM, we are committed to maintaining a secure and trustworthy recruitment process and take any fraudulent hiring activity seriously.
