Join us.\n AECOM has an exciting opportunity for a Scientist/Geoscientist III to join our Environmental Planning and Permitting (EPP) team. This hybrid role will join our Anchorage, Alaska team primarily working on National Environmental Policy Act (NEPA) and permitting projects. Our EPP team serves numerous federal and private industry clients, delivering a variety of resource management and energy infrastructure projects.\nIn this role, you will lead project teams to prepare environmental analysis and permitting documents with a particular focus on our growing line of work with mining, power producers, and federal land management agencies.\nThe responsibilities of this position include, but are not limited to:\nContribute to both federal and state environmental documents and permitting activities for mining and other projects.\nAssess proposed mining projects for impacts on water, geology, soil, and other environmental resources.\nUtilize basic scientific principles, theories, practices and existing technologies to develop solutions for technical problems with limited scope.\nConduct occasional field studies to observe and record data, conduct analyses, and document existing conditions.\nApply knowledge of natural sciences (chemistry, physics, biology, hydrology, and mathematics) to explain observations.\nPrepare technical documents and proposals.\nEngage in study/training on contaminants and remediation of the environment.\nPerform unsupervised tasks.\nCoordinate with task and project managers, working with on-site subcontractors and field staff, supporting sampling, data collection, and field documentation.\nThis position will be on either a project management or technical support track. Qualified candidates (or candidates with the desire to take on these roles) would work closely with senior-level project managers and/or senior technical staff to learn AECOM’s project management procedures and/or technical project expectations. This position may require occasional travel within the United States.\nA valid driver’s license is required, along with the ability to pass a Motor Vehicle Records (MVR) check in accordance with company policy.\nDue to the nature of the work, US Citizenship is required.\nPreferred Qualifications:\nMaster’s degree in environmental science, Geology, or other related discipline.\n6+ years of relevant experience.\nExperience with assessing baseline conditions and impact assessment for mining and other natural resource development projects.\nAbility to demonstrate professional demeanor in written and verbal communications with clients, regulatory officials, and fellow employees.\nAbility to write and to convey complex thoughts and ideas in a clear, concise manner.\nAbility to learn through on-the-job experience.\nExperience with developing conceptual site models.\nProficiency in standard MS Office suite software applications.
