AECOM Markham is seeking a Senior Bridge Design Engineer to lead and execute complex bridge and transportation structure projects from concept to completion. This role offers the opportunity to serve as a technical expert and mentor, guiding project teams while ensuring innovative, high-quality, and cost-effective design solutions. The ideal candidate will bring advanced structural engineering expertise, strong leadership abilities, and a commitment to excellence in infrastructure development.
Key Responsibilities:
- Serve as a technical advisor and senior resource for bridge design and analysis, ensuring compliance with Canadian and international design standards.
- Lead multidisciplinary teams in the design, assessment, and rehabilitation of major transportation structures.
- Provide specialized technical input on structural materials, construction methods, and engineering best practices.
- Oversee quality control reviews, ensuring the accuracy of design calculations, drawings, and technical reports.
- Develop innovative and cost-effective engineering solutions, optimizing structural performance and longevity.
- Prepare and review technical specifications, feasibility studies, and construction cost estimates.
- Collaborate with clients, contractors, government agencies, and internal teams, facilitating seamless project execution.
- Contribute to the development of engineering budgets, project schedules, and resource planning to meet delivery milestones.
- Mentor and support junior engineers, fostering a culture of continuous learning and professional growth.
Minimum Requirements:
- Bachelor’s degree in Civil or Structural Engineering.
- Minimum 6+ years of experience in bridge and transportation structure design.
- Professional Engineer (P.Eng.) designation in Ontario.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Extensive experience leading complex bridge design projects, including major transportation infrastructure.
- Proficiency in advanced structural analysis and design software (e.g., MIDAS, CSI Bridge, SAP2000).
- Strong knowledge of Canadian bridge design codes and standards (CHBDC, AASHTO, etc.).
- Demonstrated leadership and team management skills, with experience supervising engineers and designers.
- Excellent communication and presentation skills, with the ability to convey complex technical concepts to diverse stakeholders.
- Proven ability to coordinate with contractors, government agencies, and interdisciplinary teams for seamless project execution.
