Join us.\n AECOM is currently seeking a Senior Fire Protection Engineer specialising in Fire Fighting Systems design, to be based in either our St. Albans, London, Manchester, or Croydon office.. This is a consultancy-based position, requiring experience in fire protection design and a client-focused engineering environment.\nYour role will involve designing, calculating and proposing fire safety solutions on small and large projects while acting as a key point of contact. You will also undertake surveys, produce reports, and support day-to-day project management for secured programmes.\nThis role is ideal for an established consultant seeking progression, or someone with strong technical depth who wishes to join a respected fire safety consultancy.\nAbout Us\nAECOM Buildings & Places delivers modern, complex and iconic structures through multidisciplinary engineering, including Civil, Structural, Mechanical, Electrical, Environmental Engineering, Cost & Project Management and Quantity Surveying.\nOur team consists of over 400 engineers nationwide, delivering projects across residential, commercial, aviation, defence, healthcare, education, pharmaceutical, sports and leisure sectors.\nNotable projects include: Palace of Westminster, Southbank Place, Arctic Science Centres, BBC Broadcasting House, the Titanic Building (Belfast), and St Pancras Chambers Hotel.\nKey Responsibilities\nDesign, Calculations & Proposals\nLeading FP design on some projects, supporting the lead FP engineer on more complex projects, including:\nPrepare design packages for various RIBA stages (drawings, specifications, reports, hydraulic calculations).\nCreate Fire Suppression System solutions for multiple applications at all stages of design.• Perform calculations including sprinkler water supplies and gaseous agent quantities.\nSupport the remote project-delivery teams.\nSurvey & Reporting\nConduct technical reviews and assist in solving design issues.\nPerform field investigations or inspections.\nClient & Team Coordination\nCommunicate effectively with project teams, clients, authorities, contractors and other stakeholders.\nProject Management\nSupport project manager on projects of varying scale, delivery and technical assurance.\nMinimum Requirements\nStrong written and verbal communication skills.\nStrong quantitative and analytical abilities.\nRelevant engineering degree or professional qualification.\nExperience in consultancy or related industries.\nKnowledge of British & International standards and Building Regulations.\nExperience with Fire Suppression Systems (Sprinklers, Water Mist, Gaseous Suppression, Risers, Hydrants, Hose Reels, Hypoxic Systems).\nSoftware proficiency (Word, Excel, CAD, Revit, hydraulic tools).\nDue to the nature of the projects for this role it is essential that you are able to obtain a minimum of BPSS.\nEvidence of CPD and professional development.\nBEng, MEng or working towards it\nEngineering Council registration (CEng/IEng) or working towards it\nAt AECOM, we are committed to maintaining a secure and trustworthy recruitment process and take any fraudulent hiring activity seriously.
