Join us.\n Performs specific and moderate portions of a broader assignment of an experienced heavy water engineer, with expertise in deuterium oxide systems and specialized nuclear applications.\nGathers and correlates heavy water engineering data using established procedures, including isotopic analysis, purity assessments, and system performance metrics.\nWorks on detailed engineering assignments involving heavy water reactor calculations, tritium management, and specialized testing protocols.\nProposes approaches to solve new heavy water engineering challenges using modifications of standard procedures or methods developed in previous assignments.\nIdentifies discrepancies in heavy water system results and recommends corrective actions.\nProvides technical guidance to entry-level engineers on heavy water handling, safety protocols, and operational procedures.\nPerforms work in accordance with agreed upon budget and schedule with little supervision, maintaining compliance with heavy water regulatory standards.\nIndependently performs all tasks necessary to complete primary design elements for heavy water engineering works, including system optimization and safety analysis.\nPerformance at this level requires developmental experience in a professional heavy water engineering position.\n **Required Qualifications:**\nMinimum 10 years of professional experience in water engineering, heavy water systems, or related nuclear engineering disciplines\nBachelor's degree in Chemical Engineering, Nuclear Engineering, Environmental Engineering, or related field\nProfessional Engineer (PE) license or SCE certification\nDemonstrated expertise in heavy water handling, deuterium oxide systems, and specialized nuclear applications\nProven experience with isotopic analysis, purity assessments, and system performance evaluation\nStrong knowledge of regulatory standards and compliance requirements for heavy water operations\nExcellent technical writing and communication skills for documentation and guidance\n**Preferred Qualifications:**\nAdvanced degree (Master's or Ph.D.) in Nuclear Engineering, Chemical Engineering, or related discipline\n15+ years of progressive experience in heavy water engineering or nuclear facility operations\nExperience with tritium management and specialized testing protocols\nFamiliarity with reactor design calculations and safety analysis methodologies\nTrack record of mentoring and developing junior engineering staff\nExperience managing projects within budget and schedule constraints\n At AECOM, we are committed to maintaining a secure and trustworthy recruitment process and take any fraudulent hiring activity seriously.
