Join us.\n AECOM is seeking a motivated and skilled Senior Structural Engineer to support the design and construction of infrastructure projects within the Buildings + Places business line. This opportunity is based in our Halifax, Nova Scotia office, with hybrid work options available.\nAECOM Buildings + Places Canada (B+P Canada) is a vibrant and growing, fully integrated team spanning architecture, all building engineering disciplines, landscape architecture, urban planning, urban design, economics, and asset management for design and infrastructure projects.\nResponsibilities\nServe as a senior technical resource and technical advisor to the team.\n\nProvide specialized technical input to studies and designs within the area of expertise.\n\nDevelop study and design procedures to ensure high-quality, cost-effective work.\n\nParticipate in interdisciplinary reviews of project deliverables.\n\nApply technical expertise throughout the preparation of discipline-specific contract documents.\n\nPerform quality control reviews of design calculations and drawings.\n\nPrepare technical specification sections.\n\nContribute to the development of engineering budgets and schedules to meet project requirements.\n\nMentor junior and intermediate structural engineering staff.\n\nAssist the team manager in prioritizing workloads and projects for CADD and Revit production technicians and technologists.\n\nLiaise with other discipline leads to meet client performance objectives in an optimized and value-added manner.\n\n Minimum Qualifications\nBachelor’s degree in Structural Engineering or a related field.\n\nProfessional Engineer designation (P.Eng.) in good standing, or eligibility to obtain it.\n\nMinimum of six (6) years of relevant experience in the structural design of buildings, facilities, and/or infrastructure projects.\n\nDemonstrated experience in structural analysis and design of steel, concrete, and foundation systems.\n\nProficiency in structural design software (e.g., ETABS, SAP2000, SAFE, or similar) and drafting tools (e.g., AutoCAD and Revit).\n\nWorking knowledge of applicable Canadian codes and standards, including the NBCC and CSA standards.\n\nAbility to work effectively in multidisciplinary teams and coordinate with internal and external stakeholders.\n\nStrong written and verbal communication skills.\n\nAbility to obtain and maintain Reliability and/or Secret security clearance within a reasonable timeframe.\n\nPreferred Qualifications\nMaster’s degree in Structural Engineering and ten (10) or more years of relevant experience.\n\nProven experience leading structural design for complex or large-scale projects.\n\nExperience with marine and coastal structures, such as jetties, wharves, and piers.\n\nExperience with pile foundations, concrete decks, and heavy civil infrastructure.\n\nExperience working in saltwater or other harsh environmental conditions.\n\nFamiliarity with condition assessments, rehabilitation, and retrofits of existing structures.\n\nExperience providing construction support services, including site reviews and inspections.\n\nProject management experience, including budgeting, scheduling, and client coordination.\n\nExperience working on federal or government projects.\n\nStrong presentation and stakeholder engagement skills.\n\nExperience mentoring junior engineers and reviewing technical deliverables.\n\n Mandatory Security Clearance Requirements\nApplicants must hold or be eligible to obtain the following security clearances:\nMust have resided in Canada for the past 5 years to be eligible for Reliability Status or 10 years to be eligible for Secret clearance.\n\nOther\nSponsorship for Canadian work authorization is not available for this position.\n\nCompany-paid relocation is available for this position.\n\nAt AECOM, we are committed to maintaining a secure and trustworthy recruitment process and take any fraudulent hiring activity seriously.
