Join us.\n Position Summary\nThe Senior Substation Primary Circuits Engineer is responsible for the delivery of primary design engineering for High Voltage Substation projects, up to 400kV, ensuring timely and high-quality production of engineering deliverables related to primary circuits. The role focuses on execution of project design packages, technical accuracy, and coordination of CAD designers/drafters supporting the development of drawings and models. The position requires strong hands-on experience in substation primary engineering and project delivery within transmission and distribution environments.\nKey Responsibilities\n1. Project Delivery & Execution\nDeliver complete primary circuit engineering packages for HV Substation projects in accordance with project scope, schedule, and quality requirements.\nPrepare and manage design deliverables for different project phases (concept, 30%, IFC, As-Built).\nCoordinate with multidisciplinary teams (Protection & Control, Civil, Structural, BIM, and Construction) to ensure integrated design delivery.\nSupport project engineers and managers with technical input, progress tracking, and issue resolution.\n2. Primary Design & Engineering\nDevelop and produce primary substation design deliverables including:Single Line Diagrams (SLD)\nSubstation layouts and equipment arrangement\nBusbar and conductor design\nElectrical clearances and safety procedures in a substation\nEarthing and lightning protection and lighting calculations of a substation\n\nEnsure compliance with project specifications, client standards, and international standards (IEC / IEEE / AS).\nPerform technical checks and reviews of primary design drawings and documents.\n3. CAD & Drafting Coordination\nGuide and coordinate CAD designers and drafters in the preparation of drawings and models.\nReview and validate drawing quality, consistency, and compliance with standards.\nEnsure timely production and revision of drawings aligned with project delivery milestones.\n4. Technical Support & Problem Solving\nProvide technical support during design, procurement, and construction phases when required.\nResolve engineering and interface issues related to primary equipment and layout.\nReview vendor drawings and technical submissions for primary equipment.\n5. Documentation & Deliverables\nPrepare and maintain high-quality engineering documentation and design reports.\nEnsure proper version control and traceability of drawings and deliverables.\nSupport preparation of material take-offs and technical specifications when required.\n Mandatory Qualifications\nEducation\nBachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering or related field.\nExperience\nMinimum 8-10 years of experience in HV Substation Primary Design and project delivery.\nProven experience in delivering primary engineering packages for transmission/distribution substations.\nTechnical Skills\nStrong knowledge of HV substation primary design principles and deliverables.\nProficiency in engineering and drafting tools (AutoCAD, MicroStation; BIM/Revit is an advantage).\nExperience coordinating CAD/drafting resources for drawing production.\nFamiliarity with IEC / IEEE standards and utility specifications.\nUnderstanding of equipment such as transformers, AIS/GIS switchgear, busbars, disconnectors, and grounding systems.\nOther Skills\nStrong focus on delivery, quality, and deadlines.\nGood coordination and communication skills within multidisciplinary project teams.\nAbility to work independently in a project delivery environment.\nNice to Have\nExperience working on international HV substation projects.\nKnowledge of BIM / digital engineering workflows.\nProfessional Engineer (PE) or equivalent certification.\n At AECOM, we are committed to maintaining a secure and trustworthy recruitment process and take any fraudulent hiring activity seriously.
