Join us.\n Senior Traffic Engineer\nLocation: Birmingham, Alabama (Flexible within Alabama)\nThe Traffic/ITS Department is actively seeking a creative, self-driven, highly talented Senior Traffic Engineer for employment in the Alabama market area. This role will be responsible for managing traffic engineering projects from proposal development through final delivery, coordinating with clients and stakeholders, mentoring technical staff, and supporting strategic growth initiatives throughout Alabama.\nIf you are a successful applicant, you can look forward to joining a large, dynamic, and highly technical team of engineers and analysts who are driven to provide exceptional work to our clients. Activities include, but are not limited to:\nLead and manage traffic engineering, transportation planning, and traffic operations projects from proposal development through project completion\nLead and manage analysis of corridors, intersections, and network operations to identify mobility, safety, and capacity improvement opportunities.\nLead and manage traffic operations evaluations using industry-standard software and methodologies.\nCoordinate with state DOTs, municipalities, and MPOs clients to deliver quality projects.\nManage project budgets, schedules, scopes, resource allocation, and quality control efforts.\nPrepare technical reports, presentations, public meeting materials, and project documentation.\nLead proposal development efforts, client interviews, and business development initiatives.\nEstablish and maintain strong client relationships and identify opportunities for growth and expanded services.\nProvide technical oversight and quality assurance/quality control (QA/QC) reviews for project deliverables.\nMentor and develop junior engineering staff and support professional development initiatives.\nCollaborate with planners, roadway engineers, environmental specialists, and other transportation professionals.\nPerform other duties as assigned.\n Minimum:\nBachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering or related field and\nSix years of experience in traffic engineering, including signal optimization, municipal traffic engineering, and operational analysis or demonstrated equivalency of experience and or education.\nProfessional Engineer (PE) license in Alabama.\nExperience in traffic engineering principles, construction phasing, traffic control plans, and transportation planning.\nExperience with Intelligent Transportation Systems (ITS) and emerging transportation technologies\nCommunication and leadership experience to effectively manage teams and build strong client relationships.\nPreferred:\nMaster’s degree in civil engineering or related field\nProfessional Traffic Operations Engineer (PTOE) certification.\nProficient in verbal and written communication skills, time management skills, and work accuracy.\nExperience in signal design, communications, or electrical details.\nProficiency in traffic engineering software such as Synchro, SimTraffic, VISSIM, Aimsun, HCS, and AutoCAD.\n Relocation is not available for this position.\nSponsorship for US employment authorization is not available now or in the future for this position\nAt AECOM, we are committed to maintaining a secure and trustworthy recruitment process and take any fraudulent hiring activity seriously.
