Join us.\n AECOM is seeking aSenior Transportation Highway/Roadway Engineer to lead the planning, design, and delivery of mid- to large-scale roadway and highway improvement projects in our Orange, CA Office. This role requires strong technical expertise, project leadership, and the ability to deliver high-quality, client-focused solutions in compliance with Caltrans and local agency standards.\nKey Responsibilities\nServe as Lead Engineer on mid- to large-scale highway and roadway projects.\nProvide technical leadership and subject-matter expertise throughout project development, from studies through final design.\nReview, approve, and sign engineering work as required.\nPerform quality control and quality assurance reviews of work prepared by others.\nDevelop and oversee Caltrans and Greenbook-compliant design packages, including plans, specifications, and estimates.\nPrepare engineering cost estimates, schedules, and budgets for large projects.\nPresent complex technical concepts and design solutions to clients and stakeholders.\nContribute to the preparation of technical proposals and presentations.\nMentor and guide staff, promoting technical excellence and professional development.\nParticipate in professional organizations and support business development efforts as needed.\n Required Qualifications\nBachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering or a related discipline.\nMinimum of eight (8) years of relevant transportation engineering experience, or an equivalent combination of education and experience.\nU.S. citizenship required\nPreferred Qualifications\nProfessional Engineer (PE) license; ability to obtain California PE licensure within 12 months if not currently licensed in California.\nTen (10) or more years of progressively responsible highway and roadway design experience.\nDemonstrated experience delivering Caltrans highway or roadway projects (Southern California experience preferred).\nProficiency in MicroStation, InRoads, AutoCAD, and Civil 3D, with experience leading design teams using these tools.\nExperience preparing technical specifications using Greenbook and/or Caltrans standards.\nStrong written and verbal communication skills.\nInterest in marketing and business development, including proposal support and client presentations.\n Sponsorship is not available\nTHIS POSTING IS FOR A CURRENT VACANCY, AND AECOM INTENDS TO FILL THIS POSITION BY 12/29/2026\nAt AECOM, we are committed to maintaining a secure and trustworthy recruitment process and take any fraudulent hiring activity seriously.
