This is a fantastic opportunity to learn about and connect with AECOM for early career opportunities.\nAECOM is seeking a highly motivated Structural Engineering Intern to join the A/E Department of the Philadelphia, PA office for a summer internship experience. AECOM is searching for candidates that can be creative and impactful on a wide range of projects, by working both independently and with other structural staff on aviation facilities, transit stations and facilities, freight rail facilities, ancillary buildings related to roadway projects, and commercial buildings.\nAs a Structural Engineering Intern, you will work with multi-discipline project teams in developing a range of engineering solutions from initial concepts to detailed design development and through construction. This is a diverse role that will involve your contributions and insight to the effective delivery of the A/E Department’s portfolio of projects.\nThis position is expected to begin in Summer 2027.\nThe responsibilities of this position include, but are not limited to:\nUndertake design and planning tasks for various structural elements relating to the design, rehabilitation, and construction of structures, including structural steel, reinforced concrete, masonry, light gauge steel, deep and shallow foundations, and site structures.\nPrepare structural designs utilizing hand calculations, Excel workbooks, and advanced structural analysis software to determine applied loading, demand requirements, and appropriate foundation and member specifications.\nDevelop structural design documentation (3D models, plans, sketches, and details) using Revit, AutoCAD, and Bluebeam Revu.\nReview construction submittals and RFI’s towards the development of detailed, timely responses.\nCollaborate with other in-house engineering disciplines for coordinated technical solutions.\nPerform condition assessments and site visits as needed and prepare written reports.\n Minimum Requirements:\nCandidates must be pursuing a Bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering or Architectural Engineering with Structural Engineering concentration or another related field and must have completed at least 1 year of study. Candidates who have graduated with a Bachelor’s degree and plan to continue with the Master’s degree are eligible to apply for these positions. Graduates must have been enrolled in their bachelor’s degree in the most previous school term with an interest in pursuing an advanced degree in the same or similar discipline at the conclusion of the internship.\nPreferred Qualifications:\nExcellent verbal and written communication skills.\nStrong organizational skills and high attention to detail.\nSome production software experience including but not limited to: Revit, AutoCAD, MS Office, Bluebeam Revu.\nPrevious 1-2 cycles of relevant internship experience in the execution of structural design projects is a plus.\n Relocation assistance is not available for this position.\nSponsorship for US employment authorization is not available now or in the future for this position.\nThis position requires a hybrid work schedule which includes in office work in Philadelphia, PA.
