Join us.\n We are seeking an experienced Technical Design Manager to join our dynamic and multidisciplinary data centre team. This role is pivotal in leading the design and delivery of complex hyperscale, colocation, and enterprise data centre projects in Europe in collaboration with our EU Centers of Excellence. You will be responsible for managing multi-disciplinary teams, ensuring technical excellence, and maintaining strong client relationships.\nThis is a client-facing, hands-on delivery role with opportunity for career progression, working on high-profile, fast-paced projects with global clients.\nAs part of this role, you will be based in Milan with occasional travels across our UK&I + European offices for project related purposes.\nThe ideal candidate has a strong background in multidisciplinary design management with extensive experience in hyperscale or colocation data centres and critical facilities.\nHere’s what you’ll do:\nLead and coordinate multi-disciplinary design teams (Architecture, Civil, Structural, Mechanical, Electrical, Plumbing, Security, Fire Protection, ICT, BMS/EPMS).\n\nOversee all phases of data centre projects from site due diligence, campus planning, conceptual/schematic/detailed design, through to construction documentation.\n\nEnsure timely delivery of high-quality design outputs that meet client requirements and project timelines.\n\nIdentify and mitigate project risks early, providing innovative and practical solutions.\n\nSupport Project Managers and Project Directors on project’s commercial and contractual governance, ensuring compliance and risk mitigation.\n\nPresent to clients and stakeholders, ensuring timely and high-quality delivery output.\n\nCollaborate with design teams and local and international delivery teams to ensure localization and permitting compliance.\n\nRespond to client requirements in a timely manner.\n\nMaster Degree in Engineering (Building, Structural, Mechanical, Electrical, IT).\n\n7+ years of experience in data centre design and/or project management.\n\nProven experience in leading multi-disciplinary teams on complex data centre projects.\n\nStrong understanding of permitting processes, building systems, regulations, and construction methodologies.\n\nExcellent communication, interpersonal, and presentation skills.\n\nAbility to manage multiple projects and meet tight deadlines in a dynamic environment.\n\nWillingness to travel as required.\n\nFluent in Italian and English.\n\n What we offer:\nAECOM: A World of Opportunities and Benefits\nAttractive Compensation Package: We offer a competitive salary along with a range of exclusive benefits, including hybrid work, meal vouchers, welfare program, resources for personal well-being and mental health, gym memberships, health insurance, laptop, smartphone, employee assistance program, business travel insurance, service recognition awards, and a pension savings plan.\nOffice in the Heart of Milan: Central location, with easy access to all the city's conveniences.\nWork Flexibility: We offer flexible work options to help you maintain an optimal work-life balance.\nPublic Transport Allowances: We help cover the costs of your daily commute.\nCulture of Equity, Diversity, and Inclusion in Welcoming Workplaces: Our culture promotes a welcoming and respectful work environment.
