Join us.\n The Traffic Safety Engineer will oversee and manage traffic safety operations for construction and infrastructure projects in Abu Dhabi. This role ensures compliance with local authority standards, such as Abu Dhabi Work Zone Traffic Management Manual (WZTM), and promotes a safe environment for road users, workers, and the public.\nKey Responsibilities\nTraffic Safety Planning and Design\nDevelop, review, and approve Temporary Traffic Control Plans (TTCPs) in alignment with Abu Dhabi Department of Municipalities and Transport (DMT) regulations and the Abu Dhabi WZTM Manual.\nPlan and design safe work zones, including lane closures, detours, pedestrian routes, and staging for live traffic interfaces.\nEnsure traffic management plans are optimized for safety, efficiency, and minimal disruption to road users.\nSite Supervision and Compliance\nConduct regular site inspections to ensure proper implementation of TTCPs, including signage, barriers, delineators, and lighting.\nMonitor contractor compliance with approved traffic safety plans and enforce corrective actions for non-compliance.\nEnsure all work zones meet safety standards for visibility, accessibility, and emergency response.\nRisk Management and Incident Response\nIdentify and mitigate traffic-related risks through proactive hazard assessments and safety audits.\nLead incident investigations, including root cause analysis, and develop corrective and preventive action plans.\nCoordinate with contractors and stakeholders to ensure swift resolution of traffic safety issues.\nStakeholder Engagement\nLiaise with Abu Dhabi authorities, including DMT, police, and other relevant agencies, to secure approvals and ensure compliance with local regulations.\nCoordinate with multidisciplinary teams, including contractors, consultants, and utility providers, to align traffic safety measures with project requirements.\nTraining and Capacity Building\nDeliver training sessions and toolbox talks to contractors and site personnel on traffic safety best practices, including work zone setup, device placement, and emergency protocols.\nPromote a safety-first culture by mentoring junior engineers and fostering awareness of traffic safety standards.\nDocumentation and Reporting\nMaintain detailed records of traffic safety inspections, incident reports, and corrective actions.\nPrepare weekly and monthly traffic safety reports, including key performance indicators (KPIs) and compliance metrics.\nUpdate and maintain redline/as-built TTCPs for project documentation.\n Bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering, Transportation/Traffic Engineering, or a related discipline (Master's degree a plus, especially for senior-level candidates)\nProfessional engineering registration/chartered status is often preferred (e.g., PE, CEng, or equivalent recognized by UAE authorities)\n At AECOM, we are committed to maintaining a secure and trustworthy recruitment process and take any fraudulent hiring activity seriously.
