Join us.\n Visualization Technology & Innovation Technical Lead\nWe are seeking an experiencedVisualization Technology & Innovation Technical Lead to drive the evolution of our AEC visualization capabilities. This role will serve as the primary technical advisor and innovation leader for a multidisciplinary team of visualization artists, 3D generalists, designers, and digital practitioners.\nThe ideal candidate combines deep expertise in real-time 3D technologies, interactive applications, cloud-based workflows, and emerging spatial computing platforms with a proven track record of building scalable technical solutions. This individual will be responsible for evaluating emerging technologies, developing proof-of-concepts and minimum viable products (MVPs), guiding technology adoption, and ensuring our visualization practice remains at the forefront of industry innovation. This role is particularly suited for candidates coming from the gaming, entertainment, simulation, XR, or interactive technology industries who are eager to apply their expertise to the AEC industry.\nKey Responsibilities;\nTechnical Leadership & Strategy\nServe as the technical lead of visualization technologies for the Tampa Visualization Studio.\nDevelop and execute a strategic roadmap for visualization innovation aligned with business objectives and client needs.\nEvaluate and recommend adoption strategies for emerging technologies such as, but not limited to, real-time rendering, cloud rendering, spatial computing, AI-assisted visualization, gaussian splatting and advanced reality capture workflows.\nEstablish engineering best practices and technical standards for visualization solutions.\nInteractive Experience Development\nArchitect and develop proof-of-concepts, prototypes, and MVPs for client-facing and internal applications.\nCreate scalable, multi-user interactive experiences across desktop, mobile, web\nCollaborate with visualization teams to transform 3D content into interactive experiences.\nLead technical feasibility studies and technology evaluations.\nVisualization Pipeline & Infrastructure\nOversee technical implementation of real-time visualization platforms and workflows.\nOptimize performance and scalability of large 3D scenes and datasets.\nSupport and enhance cloud-based rendering and content streaming solutions.\nIdentify opportunities for automation, pipeline improvements, and tool development.\nDevelop integrations between visualization platforms, BIM models, GIS systems, and other project data sources.\nInnovation & Research\nResearch and test emerging visualization technologies applicable to architecture, engineering, and construction.\nBuild executive demonstrations and innovation showcases to illustrate future-state capabilities.\nMonitor technology trends across gaming, simulation, entertainment, defense, and XR industries.\nLead innovation initiatives focused on improving client engagement and project delivery.\nTeam Enablement & Collaboration\nAct as technical mentor to visualization artists, 3D generalists, and digital specialists.\nPartner with business leaders to identify opportunities for advanced visualization solutions.\nCollaborate with IT, design technology, BIM, and digital practice teams.\nProvide technical guidance on software selection, platform architecture, and implementation strategies.\nMinimum:\nBachelor's Degree in related field. \nTen years of experience in software engineering, interactive technology, real-time 3D development, gaming, simulation, visualization, or related fields or demonstrated equivalency of experience and/or education.\nExperience developing multi-user and interactive applications.\nExperience with one or more game engines such as Unity, Unreal Engine, Godot or similar real-time platforms.\nExperience developing desktop, mobile, web, or XR applications.\nExperienced in communication skills with the ability to engage technical and non-technical stakeholders.\nExperience creating prototypes, MVPs, and proof-of-concept applications.\nPreferred:\nFifteen years of experience in software engineering, interactive technology, real-time 3D development, gaming, simulation, visualization, or related fields.\nDemonstrated experience building and leading technical teams.\nDemonstrated knowledge of software architecture, deployment, and development of lifecycle methodologies.\nExperience with modern cloud platforms such as Azure, AWS, or Google Cloud.\nExperience with AR/XR hardware ecosystems, including Apple Vision Pro, Meta Quest, Magic Leap, or similar devices.\nDemonstrated knowledge of networking, streaming technologies, and collaborative multi-user systems.\nPreferred experience in several of the following:C#, C++, Python, JavaScript, REST APIs, OpenXR, WebXR, Unity, Unreal Engine, PlayCanvas, Babylon.js, Reality Capture Pipelines, AI/ML-assisted visualization workflows\n\n Relocation is not an option for this position. \nSponsorship for US employment authorization is not available now or in the future for this position.\nAt AECOM, we are committed to maintaining a secure and trustworthy recruitment process and take any fraudulent hiring activity seriously.
