If you’re inspired to make a difference through future-building projects, join our best-in-class team.\nWhat is the Opportunity?\nReporting to the EHS Manager, the EHS Advisor will be responsible for actively promoting a strong health, safety, and environmental culture across Aecon’s operations in Vancouver and the Lower Mainland. The EHS Advisor will work closely with project teams, supervisors, field employees, and subcontractors to support compliance with Aecon’s Health, Safety and Environmental policies and procedures, as well as applicable British Columbia occupational health and safety requirements.\nThese positions are intended to support future EHS Advisor vacancies across the Lower Mainland, as well as potential relocation opportunities on projects throughout British Columbia.\nWhat You'll Do Here:\nConduct site-specific safety orientations for workers, subcontractors, clients, and other project stakeholders.\nTrain and coach supervisors and staff on Aecon’s Health, Safety and Environmental policies, procedures, and programs.\nSupport and coordinate safety training, including fall protection, confined space entry, traffic protection, WHMIS, respiratory protection, emergency response, First Aid, and other construction-related training.\nConduct workplace inspections, observations, and safety audits to identify hazards and ensure corrective actions are implemented.\nConduct behavioural safety observations and provide coaching and feedback to employees and supervisors.\nMaintain Safety Data Sheets (SDS) and other required EHS documentation.\nAssist in the development and implementation of project-specific safety plans, including emergency response, fire prevention, traffic control, fall protection, and other relevant programs.\nCoordinate the distribution and maintenance of safety materials, supplies, and equipment.\nPrepare and deliver safety presentations, toolbox talks, and training sessions.\nParticipate in project safety meetings and Joint Health and Safety Committees as required.\nMonitor safety performance, identify trends, and recommend preventative and corrective measures.\nInspect project facilities and work areas and recommend corrective actions where required.\nSupport and coordinate the activities of site safety personnel as required.\nAssist with workers' compensation claims and associated activities.\nSupport return-to-work and modified-work programs.\nParticipate in accident and incident investigations, including the identification of root causes and corrective actions.\nWork collaboratively with project teams to resolve health and safety concerns.\nLiaise with regulatory authorities and other external stakeholders as required.\nPrepare for and assist with internal and external safety audits.\nSupport environmental compliance activities and the resolution of environmental issues.\nMaintain EHS records, statistics, and reports and provide information to project and operational leadership as required.\nPromote Aecon’s safety culture and actively engage with employees at all levels to drive continuous improvement in EHS performance.\nWhat You Bring to the Team:\nMinimum 3 to 5 years of experience in a Health, Safety and Environmental role within the construction industry.\nExperience supporting heavy civil, infrastructure, transportation, utilities, or other complex construction projects is preferred.\nPost-secondary education in Occupational Health and Safety, Environmental Health and Safety, or a related discipline is preferred.\nStrong knowledge of WorkSafeBC legislation and British Columbia occupational health and safety requirements.\nCanadian Registered Safety Professional (CRSP) designation is considered an asset.\nNational Construction Safety Officer (NCSO) designation or equivalent safety certification is considered an asset.\nOccupational First Aid certification is considered an asset.\nExperience conducting workplace inspections, audits, incident investigations, hazard assessments, and safety observations.\nExperience developing or delivering EHS training programs to individuals and groups.\nKnowledge of construction safety practices, including fall protection, confined spaces, traffic control, respiratory protection, and emergency response.\nAbility to work effectively in both field and office environments.\nIntermediate to advanced working knowledge of Microsoft Office, including Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Outlook.\nAbility to communicate with tact and diplomacy, with excellent verbal and written communication skills.\nStrong organizational and time-management skills.\nExcellent meeting, presentation, and training facilitation skills.\nAdaptable and flexible in a fast-paced and changing construction environment.\nAbility to build strong working relationships with field employees, supervisors, project management, subcontractors, clients, and regulatory representatives.\nValid driver’s license and ability to travel to project locations as required.\nPay and Benefits:\nThe expected pay range for this role is $90,000 - $110,000 per year.\nIndividual pay is determined based on several factors, including work location, education, experience, unique skills and job conditions.
